Requirements
  • A valid Kansas Nurse Practitioner license is required.
  • If floating in Oklahoma facilities, a valid Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority is required, depending on the assigned region.
  • A valid Kansas Registered Nurse license or a multistate license in the nurse's resident state is required; an Oklahoma Registered Nurse license may be required if no multistate license is held.
  • Graduation from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • Current board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners is required.
  • If the position or practice requires it, DOT certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and recertified every 10 years.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required for Pleasanton providers and walk-in care providers in Fort Scott and Pittsburg.
  • The provider must understand the rationale for appropriate patient care.
  • The provider must communicate through appropriate channels and use the proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • The provider must be able to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • The provider must be computer literate and able to navigate the Electronic Health Record.
  • The provider must maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team and organization.
  • The provider must maintain patient confidentiality according to organizational policy and HIPAA requirements.
  • The provider must be able to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The provider must be committed to serving underserved populations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage patients' medical plans of care based on an agreement jointly developed and signed by the advanced practice provider and supervising physicians.
  • Provide complete, comprehensive outpatient care, including health examinations, treatment of medical conditions, and follow-up of detected problems.
  • Manage acute and chronic illnesses and routine care through coordinated care plans, including coordination with behavioral health providers when appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal CHC/SEK disciplines and external resources or agencies for additional services.
  • Prescribe medications to treat patient conditions when indicated.
  • Provide clinical consultation to other CHC/SEK providers as needed.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation according to the Electronic Health Record Completion Policy.
  • Follow clinic protocols, guidelines, and the scope of practice established by professional regulatory agencies.
  • Follow up with clinical support staff through telephone or written correspondence, including informing patients of test results.
  • Provide clear written and oral communication to patients, guardians, and employees.
  • Participate in an on-call system for after-hours care for the CHC/SEK inpatient population as assigned.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Evaluate the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
  • Supervise healthcare students as assigned.
  • Float to alternate CHC/SEK facilities as needed to ensure appropriate access to care.
  • Work full time and one weekend per month.

  • One year of experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
  • A strong community and public health orientation is preferred.
