Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of experience working with pregnant and parenting teens is required.
  • One to two years of experience caring for infants and toddlers is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal relational skills are required.
  • The ability to support and nurture children and youth in a structured environment is required.
  • A strong commitment to safety is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist youth in foster care with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, food preparation, housekeeping, child care, laundry, and shopping, to model and encourage independent living skills.
  • Assist pregnant and parenting residents in developing effective parenting skills and positive behavior through modeling to support sustainable independence.
  • Attend personal care appointments to provide support and education on navigating community resources.
  • Read the communication log at the beginning of each shift and accurately document shift events to ensure continuity of care and compliance with oversight regulations.
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner, including daily shift logs, program notes, medication reports, and incident reports, to ensure program compliance and maintain standards of care.
  • Participate in recreational activities with pregnant and parenting residents and their children to engage them in programming and build rapport.
  • Conduct 30-minute room checks and fire drills in accordance with regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of youth and children in the program.
  • Participate in required evidence-based model training, including EQ2 and Power Source Parenting, to enhance services provided to youth in foster care.
