The High Speed Electrical Engineer is responsible for design and modeling of the electrical signal transfer in high performance computing system. The role requires abundant high speed circuit design and manufacturing experience, deep understanding of high speed signal processes (>50Gbit/s), losses and correction mechanisms but also an understanding about the future roadmap & material choices. Knowledge about the I/O coming off the chip, SerDes/PHY layer and behavior is important.
Key Responsibilities
Architecting and designing high-speed mixed-signal communication circuits using state-of-the art process technology.
Simulation, verification, evaluation, debugging and characterization of high-speed communication transceiver chip sets.
Projects also may include IC layout and silicon characterization, prepare test methods and specifications,
Assist in preparation of application information, data sheets and demo boards.
Develop solutions to moderately complex problems through assessment of various techniques and approaches.
Involved in routine communication with groups inside & outside Applied Materials to solve cutting-edge problems and present information as well as active participation in work groups, providing ideas and helping to achieve teamwork.
Functional Knowledge
MS/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of experience designing analog/digital circuits.
Experience on high speed (>50GHz) digital circuits design (e.g.,SerDes, counters, dividers, etc.) with Cu medium and solid substrates. Understanding of the PHY layer & NIC is a benefit
Knowledge of system level design on co-packaged optics, optical interconnect
Knowledge of common high-speed SerDes protocols (e.g., PCIe, USB, SATA, etc.)
Knowledge of I/O chip, NIC, GPU, HBM requirement for electric signal processing in data center
Hands-on experience with analog mixed-signal (AMS) IC development from definition to high-volume production including layout supervision, bench evaluation, correlation, and characterization
Experience with Tx/Rx equalization techniques and circuits
Proficient on coding language like Python, Matlab or C etc.
