About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with 6+ years, a master's degree with 4+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year of experience in Computer Science or a related technical field is required.
  • Proficiency in Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Node.js, with a strong focus on translating Figma designs into scalable, component-based user interfaces using formal design systems.
  • Ability to build and ship secure production desktop applications for macOS and Windows using Electron or Tauri, with deep knowledge of application lifecycles, inter-process communication, and security best practices.
  • Experience managing cross-platform packaging, code signing, and auto-update mechanisms, plus practical experience deploying and running services on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency in Git and Agile methodologies, with a specialized focus on implementing advanced accessibility standards for dynamic, real-time web user interfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain the Circuit Desktop application for macOS and Windows using Electron or Tauri with an Angular/TypeScript user interface, ensuring a consistent, performant, native-grade experience across both platforms.
  • Implement desktop-specific functionality, including system tray, native notifications, file system access, deep linking, global shortcuts, and always-on ambient presence; architect clean inter-process communication between renderer and main processes with context isolation and sandboxing.
  • Build responsive AI-driven interfaces for chat, agents, and streaming responses from Figma designs and user experience frameworks, integrating with REST APIs and Node.js services and reusing Circuit's web design system on desktop.
  • Own cross-platform build pipelines and installers, including DMG/PKG for macOS and MSI/NSIS for Windows, with code signing, macOS notarization, hardened runtime, and reliable differential auto-updates.
  • Integrate native modules where needed, including Swift/Objective-C on macOS and C++/C# on Windows; profile and optimize startup time, memory, and CPU usage; debug native crashes; and manage large local state using SQLite or IndexedDB.

  • Implement WCAG 2.2 AA patterns for dynamic AI interfaces, including ARIA live regions for streaming responses, semantic structure for conversation user interfaces, focus management across modals and context switches, full keyboard support, and color contrast in light and dark modes.
  • Apply findings from usability testing and end-user feedback during development; determine when a design is ready to build versus still in exploration, and raise gaps or edge cases with designers before they become production issues.
  • Build human-AI interaction user interface patterns that help users understand AI behavior, including streaming and token-by-token rendering, clear loading and error states, recovery flows when responses fail, and interfaces that support trust and comprehension in non-deterministic experiences.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building web-based or desktop AI applications, including large language model, chatbot, or agent interfaces, streaming responses, and real-time updates via WebSockets.
  • Proficiency in writing native modules, including Swift/Objective-C for macOS and C++/C# and Win32 APIs for Windows, and experience with performance profiling to optimize Electron overhead such as startup time, memory, and CPU usage.
  • Experience building and maintaining a multi-platform continuous integration and continuous delivery matrix using GitHub Actions, such as running macOS and Windows jobs in parallel with secure signing secrets, and familiarity with Docker for containerized development.
  • Experience with local or offline storage solutions, including SQLite, IndexedDB, and file systems, and managing efficient large-scale local state.
  • Familiarity with operating-system-level accessibility APIs and deep integration of desktop accessibility and WCAG standards.

About the company

Cisco makes the switches and routers that connect offices, data centers, and cloud services, and it also sells cybersecurity tools and Webex video meetings to businesses and governments. It was one of the first companies to sell routers that let different kinds of computer networks exchange data, and in 2000 it briefly became the world's most valuable company. Customers run its network gear, from Wi-Fi access points to AI data center systems, with Cisco software that sets up and secures the network, while its Splunk unit searches computer logs to catch outages and attacks. Cisco earns money from hardware sales, software subscriptions, and support contracts. It was founded in 1984 and is based in San Jose, California.

Splunk report: 55% of firms can't control AI costs as agents outpace monitoring

Cisco released its Splunk State of Observability 2026 report on October 20, 2026, finding that the rush to deploy AI agents is outpacing the ability to monitor them. The survey covered 2,050 IT operations and engineering professionals across 10 countries. Some 87% say monitoring AI is a priority, yet 56% cannot measure AI workload metrics such as large language model response quality. Also, 55% say they cannot control AI costs, and 60% say unexpected billing spikes strain operations more than high baseline costs. Security collaboration is growing: 81% say monitoring AI has increased cooperation between observability and security teams. Among leading organizations, 91% can accurately attribute AI costs, against 69% of non-leaders.

NVIDIA and Cisco unveil USFP optics with 400Gb/s lanes and 4x bandwidth density

NVIDIA and Cisco announced Ultra-Dense Small Form Factor Pluggable (USFP), a new optical module for AI data centres, on October 12, 2026. They say it will be the first to support 400Gb/s-per-lane electrical signals, for capacity up to 12.8Tb/s. USFP offers 4x the bandwidth density and about 1.3x the power efficiency of 200Gb/s-per-lane modules. Operators can connect more computing systems without adding network tiers, while cutting networking's share of power use. The first transceivers will pack 16 full-duplex lanes in an octal small form factor-sized footprint, with 32 lanes or more planned. The companies are working with TE Connectivity and Amphenol on cages, connectors and modules. They plan an open industry specification through a community-led multi-source project.
