Requirements
  • Must be able to pass 3G/FCAW, 1G/GMAW-MC, and 3G/GMAW-SC tests.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for Fitter 1.
  • Fitter 1 requires 3-5 years of experience in welding and metal processing, including FCAW and MIG.
  • Fitter 2 requires 5-10 years of experience in welding, metal processing, and structural fitting, in addition to Fitter 1 qualifications.
  • Fitter 3 requires 10+ years of experience in welding, metal processing, and structural fitting.
  • Fitter 3 requires certification in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW in all positions.
  • Fitter 3 requires experience in COBOT programming and AutoCAD.
  • Fitter 3 requires advanced mechanical aptitude, the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, and advanced blueprint and technical-document reading skills.
  • Fitter 3 requires advanced mathematics, including trigonometry and geometry.
  • Fitter 3 requires knowledge of trade materials and tools, hand drafting and sketching, and the ability to work in hazardous, confined, elevated, dusty, noisy, and adverse environments.
  • Employees must comply with company safety requirements, including RK Orientation, CPR/First Aid/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Identification, and OSHA 10.
  • Employees must be able to climb, balance, squat, kneel, crouch, work in all weather conditions, and lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality structural and miscellaneous metal components according to established standards and procedures.
  • Read and interpret labels, job orders, process sheets, cut lists, tolerances, technical drawings, blueprints, ISO standards, European standards, and raw contract drawings.
  • Determine the appropriate equipment and sequence of operations.
  • Inspect products for compliance and document results.
  • Maintain and operate trade-specific machinery, fixtures, tools, lift trucks, and overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Use measuring tools, including tape measures, accurately.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and shop regulations, and stop work when unsafe conditions are present.
  • Perform welding and structural fitting, including fitting beams, columns, miscellaneous metals, rails, stairs, and canopies.
  • Design, build, and set up semi-automated fixtures and fitting and welding assembly lines.
  • Program welding robots and operate AutoCAD.
  • Weld in confined spaces using mirrors.
  • Collaborate with the shop foreman to achieve production targets efficiently and on schedule, and communicate job status to the shop superintendent.
  • Manage individual responsibilities within defined parameters and established processes.
  • Lead small teams and contribute to Lean and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior fitters.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in troubleshooting and recommending effective solutions.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement process enhancements.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and precision, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and work independently when required.
