About the company

Estes Industries manufactures model rocket engines, kits, and accessories. Its products work by providing propulsion through solid rocket motors used in hobby rockets; customers assemble kits and attach engines for flights powered by stored propellant that ignites to push the rocket upward. The company differentiates itself by being a long‑running, family‑run business with a strong emphasis on safety and accessibility, serving customers from backyards and schools to broader hobby communities, and maintaining leadership in the model rocket segment. Estes aims to ignite imagination and help each new generation enjoy safe, successful flights, striving to be the best model rocket company on the planet.

World Space Week 2026 puts Rocket Revolution in focus.

World Space Week 2026 puts Rocket Revolution in focus. World Space Week 2026 is highlighting reusable rockets, lower launch costs and expanding commercial access to orbit under this year's "Rocket Revolution" theme. World Space Week 2026 is focusing on the changing economics and technology of spaceflight, with reusable launch vehicles and a growing commercial sector at the center of this year's global observance. The annual event, held Oct. 4-10, takes its dates from two milestones in space history. Sputnik 1 launched on Oct. 4, 1957, becoming the first artificial satellite to orbit Earth, while the Outer Space Treaty was signed on Oct. 10, 1967. The United Nations General Assembly established World Space Week as an annual observance in 1999. The 2026 theme, "Rocket Revolution," highlights how expanded access to space and declining launch prices are supporting new space applications. Dennis Stone, president of the World Space Week Association, said the theme also aims to encourage student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Rocket reusability is a key part of that shift. Instead of designing launch hardware for a single flight, companies have demonstrated that portions of rockets can return to Earth and fly again. Smaller launch vehicles and new launch approaches are also giving organizations more options for placing satellites and other payloads into orbit. The theme arrives as the space industry continues to broaden beyond traditional government-led missions. Space systems now support communications, navigation, weather services, Earth observation, environmental monitoring, disaster response and connectivity. A recent milestone highlighted in the World Space Week coverage was SpaceX's Sept. 28 Starship test flight, which reached orbit and deployed 26 Starlink V3 satellites. The flight was later cut short following an engine issue, but achieved its primary objectives of reaching orbit and deploying the payload. World Space Week activities are planned across about 100 countries, ranging from exhibitions and talks to classroom projects, astronomy events and model-rocket launches. The European Space Agency and The Pokémon Company International are partnering on a Europe-wide space exhibition and Pokémon GO event. At Florida's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, a World Space Week Expo is scheduled for Oct. 9 with NASA and industry partners. Students and rocket clubs will also be able to participate in model-rocket activities supported by United Launch Alliance and Estes. Estes Education has partnered with the World Space Week Association on a Rocket Revolution Toolkit for classrooms, families and clubs. For skywatchers, the week also features several astronomical events, including Saturn at opposition on Oct. 4, close Moon encounters with Mars and Jupiter, the Draconid meteor shower around Oct. 8-9 and a New Moon on Oct. 10. * Adnan Rasheed Adnan Rasheed is an independent journalist and digital publisher covering technology, business, entertainment, sports, and global news.
