Requirements
  • Four years of industrial controls experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction industry or a similar field.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related bachelor's discipline, a related technical-college degree, or equivalent industrial controls experience.
  • Four years of experience in programmable logic controller programming.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley equipment and systems.
  • Proficiency in programmable logic controller programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
  • Familiarity with networking, including Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience and knowledge of human-machine interfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals.
  • Read and interpret diagrams and documentation and communicate with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
  • Develop the overall architecture and communication strategy between control system elements.
  • Work with customers and other stakeholders to define and document control system functionality.
  • Develop bills of materials, input/output lists, and requirements for control panels.
  • Serve as the technical lead for small projects, including building programmable logic controller and human-machine interface templates.
  • Develop programmable logic controller programs in ladder, function block, and other languages.
  • Develop the human-machine interface.
  • Develop hardware and software test plans and write simulation logic for testing the programmable logic controller and human-machine interface system.
  • Develop a training plan and materials to train operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate and coordinate with installation-team management to ensure technicians execute documented processes.
  • Test the installed system to observe system functionality and ensure programs function as designed.
  • Troubleshoot startup problems caused by incorrect drawings, changes in customer requirements, inaccurate instrumentation specifications, or other technical issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware interface issues.
  • Interface with software and application-product manufacturers and vendors regarding problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Work with others to address design problems as necessary.
  • Respond to service calls as needed to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair programming and system failures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six years of experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction industry or a similar field.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk software.
