Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 2 years of related experience demonstrating analytical and written research capabilities are required.
  • Prior experience with online litigation document review databases is required.
  • A strong understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) is required.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply codes, statutes, and procedures related to the assigned practice area.
  • Ability to operate a telephone, calculator, personal computer, and printer and learn required software.
  • Ability to proofread correspondence and documents for correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal correspondence, memoranda, documents, reference publications, reference books, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry boxes of files or documents weighing up to 25 pounds and use a hand truck.
  • Analytical, planning, organizational, project management, oral communication, written communication, judgment, initiative, adaptability, client-service, and teamwork capabilities are required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-claim investigations, legal research, and initial case assessments.
  • Obtain records and documents; interview clients, parties, and witnesses; prepare subpoenas; locate expert witnesses; manage litigation review databases; review literature and search databases; and assemble factual information.
  • Draft interrogatories, requests for production, motions, memoranda, witness and deposition outlines, privilege logs, and client correspondence.
  • Manage discovery-document collection from clients, eDiscovery litigation review databases, outside reviewers, document productions, and collection, production, and privilege logs.
  • Oversee disposition of documents at the end of each case.
  • Annotate, summarize, or categorize testimony, documents, physical evidence, and other information; assist with determining relevance and privilege; critique expert reports; and prepare numerical analyses.
  • Assist with pretrial motions; prepare trial notebooks and exhibits; schedule witnesses; file exhibit and witness lists with the court; and arrange trial support services.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with firm clients.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities assigned by the practice area or department chair, including disseminating changes in codes, statutes, regulations, and procedures and maintaining current practice-area form files.
  • Occasionally travel overnight to assist with document productions or attend trial.
