About the company

argenx develops and markets antibody-based therapies for severe autoimmune diseases. Its medicines work by modulating the immune system through engineered antibodies, notably efgartigimod (VYVGART for generalized myasthenia gravis and VYVGART Hytrulo for CIDP) that influence FcRn pathways. The company differentiates itself through antibody engineering capabilities and a co-creation model with academic and industry partners, plus a pipeline focused on FcRn-, complement-, and target-directed programs across autoimmune indications. Its goal is to provide effective antibody medicines that improve patient outcomes and expand global access through its development and commercial footprint.

What believers are saying

  • May 8, 2026 FDA approval opened VYVGART to all adult gMG serotypes.
  • August 17, 2026 ALKIVIA met primary endpoint in autoimmune myositis, adding a multibillion-dollar indication.
  • September 29, 2026 AANEM data extended VYVGART into ocular MG and longer-duration CIDP use.

What critics are saying

  • UCB's RYSTIGGO and J&J's nipocalimab attack the same FcRn market by 2027.
  • VYVGART concentration remains extreme; one franchise drove $2.8 billion first-half 2026 sales.
  • If ALKIVIA or upcoming myositis filings disappoint, argenx loses its next blockbuster expansion.

What makes argenx unique

  • VYVGART is first-and-only approved for all adult gMG serotypes after May 8, 2026.
  • argenx scaled $1.5 billion Q2 2026 product sales with 60% year-over-year growth.

argenx Q3 sales jump 54% to $1.7B as pipeline expands and operating profit hits $486M

argenx reported $1.7 billion in product sales for the third quarter of 2026, up 54% year over year and 13% quarter over quarter. The company discussed the results on an earnings call on October 22, 2026. Growth came from wider use of VYVGART in generalized myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. Operating profit reached $486 million, as revenue gains covered higher research and development costs. argenx is advancing 10 clinical-stage molecules. They include empasiprubart for multifocal motor neuropathy, which is heading toward its first phase 3 readout, and FB102 for celiac disease, which had positive phase 2 results. The company prepares for up to five potential launches in 2027 as part of its Vision 2030 plan.

argenx Q3 sales jump 54% to $1.7B as VYVGART demand grows, with up to five 2027 launches planned

argenx reported third-quarter product net sales of $1.7 billion, up 54% from a year earlier and 13% from the previous quarter. The company ended the quarter with $3.7 billion in cash and current financial assets after paying a net $2.1 billion for Forte. argenx plans to file for VYVGART approval in immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy by year-end. It could have up to five US launches in 2027. It expects combined research and development and selling, general and administrative expenses of about $4 billion for 2026, and is moving Forte's FB-102 into Phase III for celiac disease.

Mankind Pharma to buy 70% stake in cancer therapy firm ACTx for ₹511 crore.

Mankind Pharma to buy 70% stake in cancer therapy firm ACTx for ₹511 crore. October 16, 2026 | 11:02 IST AI Summary Mankind Pharma has agreed to acquire a 70% stake in Belgium-based Armed Cell Therapeutics for ₹511.18 crore, marking its entry into next-generation cancer cell therapies like armed CAR-T treatments. Mankind Pharma has agreed to acquire a 70% stake in Belgium-based Armed Cell Therapeutics B.V. (ACTx) for €48 million (₹511.18 crore), marking its entry into next-generation cancer cell therapies. The acquisition will be made through Mankind Pharma (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary that has signed a definitive agreement for the deal. The consideration will be paid entirely in cash in instalments. Completion is subject to any regulatory approvals required under local laws. Mankind Pharma's board, which met on Thursday, also approved an additional investment of up to €45 million in the Dutch subsidiary. The investment will be made in one or more tranches, taking the total approved investment limit to €50 million, including the €5 million sanctioned earlier. The subsidiary was incorporated on August 13, 2026, to hold investments in research and development assets and pursue business development in niche therapies through joint ventures or strategic stakes. It has reported no turnover since its recent incorporation. What ACTx does ACTx is developing next-generation chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies, known as "armed" CAR-T, to treat cancer. Its lead programmes target non-Hodgkin lymphoma and small cell lung cancer. The company is also exploring approaches such as generating CAR-T cells inside the body, known as in vivo CAR-T. CAR-T therapy modifies a patient's immune cells to recognise and attack cancer cells. While the treatment has transformed care for some blood cancers, patients can relapse because the modified cells may not persist or may become exhausted, while cancer cells can develop resistance. Solid tumours pose additional challenges because CAR-T cells can struggle to penetrate tumours and function in their hostile environments. Armed CAR-T therapies are designed with additional biological payloads to strengthen their anti-tumour activity and potentially deliver deeper, more durable responses. Targeting multiple cancer antigens may also help prevent cancer cells from evading treatment. ACTx is headquartered in Belgium, has operations in the Netherlands and conducts research and pre-clinical work in Pittsburgh, the US. Its research and development teams are based in the US and Europe. Its founders include Paul Stoffels, board chair and former chief executive of Galapagos and former chief scientific officer of Johnson & Johnson; John Mellors, chief scientific officer and a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh who previously served as a senior vice-president at Galapagos; and Peter Verhaeghe, former chair of argenx. Mankind bets on innovation-led growth Arjun Juneja, chief operating officer of Mankind Pharma, said the investment marked the first step towards building a global pipeline of breakthrough therapies. "Innovation will be one of the defining growth engines for Mankind over the coming decades," Juneja said, adding that the company aims to make such therapies more accessible to patients in India and worldwide over the long term. Stoffels said next-generation CAR-T therapies could reach more patients if they became more powerful and durable. ACTx now had the assets, team and backing from Mankind to pursue that goal, he said. Mankind said its investment in the Dutch subsidiary would qualify as a related-party transaction but would be exempt under Regulation 23(5) of SEBI's listing regulations because the subsidiary is wholly owned. The subsidiary's investment in ACTx would not constitute a related-party transaction. The deal will not alter Mankind's shareholding in its Dutch subsidiary. Mankind describes itself as one of India's largest pharmaceutical companies, with a field force of more than 18,500 and a reach of over five lakh doctors. It operates 32 manufacturing facilities in India and seven dedicated research and development facilities staffed by more than 740 scientists. Mankind Pharma shares closed at ₹2,347.60 on the NSE on Thursday, up 0.54%.

Argenx shares drop 15% as Vyvgart fails Sjögren's trial despite celiac drug success

Argenx shares dropped 15% on Thursday after the Dutch biotech announced its blockbuster drug Vyvgart failed to help patients with Sjögren's disease. An independent monitoring board recommended ending the Phase 3 study "for futility" following an interim analysis. The timing surprised analysts, who weren't expecting results until the second half of 2027. Success in Sjögren's could have generated up to $1.4 billion in peak sales for that indication alone. A separate announcement of successful Phase 2 research into a celiac disease drug failed to offset investor concerns. Argenx acquired the medicine, FB102, through a $2.2 billion takeover of Forte Biosciences this year. TD Securities analyst Yaron Werber models $988 million in peak sales for the celiac drug. Despite the setback, Argenx maintains a market cap of around $50 billion. Vyvgart sales reached $1.5 billion in the second quarter alone.
