Food Services Manager
About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent with business math and professional communication skills and the ability to understand complex school meal program regulations and implement effective solutions, including training others.
- Commitment to meet state requirements to become certified within a specified period of time if not already certified.
- Working knowledge of food service, sanitation, and recordkeeping requirements.
- General office management and filing skills.
- Strong math skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, along with general computer proficiency.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and ability to work in both office and cafeteria settings.
- Process and maintain school meal records accurately in accordance with government regulations, including student meal applications, meal attendance records, meal payments, à la carte sales, and other food-program records.
- Supervise food service employees in processing and maintaining school meal records.
- Order food for the meal program by obtaining accurate meal counts, coordinating orders with vendors, monitoring vendor bills, and ordering commodities and other food and supplies as needed.
- Oversee food service operations for compliance with local health department regulations.
- Supervise food service staff and volunteers.
- Serve food to students and staff and ensure cleanliness of food service areas.
- Ensure compliance with company and government safety regulations and procedures.
- Work with the School Leader and support areas to monitor and manage food program costs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- College coursework is preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification are preferred.
