Global Islamic finance industry assets to reach US$10.5 trillion by 2030 as adoption broadens.

Global Islamic finance industry assets to reach US$10.5 trillion by 2030 as adoption broadens. aalqali October 21, 2026 LSEG, in collaboration with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) (www.ICD-ps.org), the private sector arm of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, today announced the results of the 2026 edition of the Islamic Finance Development Report at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum (KLIFF) in Malaysia. You may also like. Key findings of the report include: * The global Islamic finance industry maintained a strong growth trajectory in 2025, with total assets reaching US$6.5 trillion, up 9% year-on-year. Growth was supported by the continued expansion in Islamic banking, record sukuk issuance, strong Islamic fund performance, and new regulatory frameworks. * Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Pakistan retained their positions as the world's most developed Islamic finance markets. These countries continued to benefit from comprehensive regulation, strong institutional development, active financial markets, and well-established knowledge ecosystems. * Several markets recorded notable gains in performance, including Türkiye, Tanzania, Kenya, Benin, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, highlighting the growing momentum across both established and emerging Islamic finance markets. The report also identified several structural trends that are shaping the industry's development. Regulatory reforms and stronger market infrastructure are supporting growth beyond core markets, particularly across Africa and Central Asia. Sustainability guidelines are increasingly prioritised, although activity remains concentrated in developed markets. Digitalisation is also advancing, with FinTech, open banking, and tokenised sukuk influencing financing, issuance, and settlement while widening access to financial products. However, talent development is lagging industry expansion, emphasising the need for stronger specialist education. Khalid Khalafalla, Acting Chief Executive Officer of ICD, said: "For ICD, these developments reinforce the importance of ensuring that Islamic finance serves as a practical instrument for inclusive and sustainable economic transformation. ICD remains committed to advancing private-sector development across its member countries through targeted financing and the promotion of Islamic financial solutions." Mustafa Adil, Head of Islamic Finance, LSEG, added: "Looking ahead, global Islamic finance assets are projected to exceed US$10.5 trillion by 2030, supported by continued Islamic banking expansion, growing sukuk issuance momentum, emerging-market adoption and demand for sustainable and digital financial solutions." The report draws on the Islamic Finance Development Indicator (IFDI), a global benchmark that assesses the development of the Islamic finance industry across 140 countries through five key areas, Financial Performance, Governance, Sustainability, Awareness, and Knowledge. It provides a holistic view of the global Islamic finance landscape, measuring progress in alignment with Islamic principles and supporting stakeholders in identifying opportunities for growth and reform. AMP shares fall as mortgage book drops $400m over Q3.

AMP shares fall as mortgage book drops $400m over Q3. TSMC profit surges but AI stocks keep falling. 5:10am today The news: TSMC shares fell on Thursday despite the semiconductor giant beating earnings expectations, with third-quarter net profit jumping 68.7% from a year earlier. The company reported revenue of USD46.72 billion ($67 billion) and net income of 763 billion Taiwan dollars ($33.9 billion). LSEG's weighted analyst forecasts were USD45 billion in revenue and 746 billion Taiwan dollars in profit, according to CNBC. But the stronger-than-expected result was not enough to halt an aggressive sell-off in AI-related stocks. TSMC itself fell 2%, although it outperformed Taiwan's benchmark index which dropped 3.4%. South Korea's benchmark index fell 7.6%, with heavyweight chipmakers dropping sharply. Samsung Electronics fell 9.5% and SK Hynix lost 11%. Japan's benchmark index fell 4.9%, while investor SoftBank dropped 9.4% and other chip-related stocks fell between 5% and 14%. The context: Investors have been selling AI-related stocks all week following a string of negative news stories and pressure from higher borrowing costs. The latest selling came after Anthropic disclosed slower-than-hoped revenue growth and some CoreWeave bonds reached distressed levels - partly in response to Firmus' pulled IPO. Japan economy minister stresses BOJ independence, rejects reflationist label.

Japan economy minister stresses BOJ independence, rejects reflationist label. Published on 10/15/2026 at 05:01 am EDT - Modified on 10/15/2026 at 07:11 am EDT TOKYO, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Japanese Economy Minister Minoru Kiuchi said monetary policy should be left to the Bank of Japan, reiterating the government's stance on respecting the central bank's independence, as markets assess the outlook for further interest rate hikes. "Generally speaking, the government understands that the BOJ is entrusted with conducting monetary policy to achieve the 2% inflation target," Kiuchi said at a Reuters NEXT Newsmaker event hosted by LSEG in Tokyo on Thursday. "It is important that monetary policy adjustments are left to the BOJ's judgment," said Kiuchi, who is often viewed by markets as a reflationist, a reputation stemming from his past caution over rate hikes and his ties to a pro-stimulus group of lawmakers. He also disputed the reflationist label, saying that Japan is no longer in a situation where reflationary policies would be adopted and that Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's government has never pursued such policies. He said Japan is "transitioning towards a new, growth-oriented economy" and global investors should judge the country on its current situation rather than on perceptions shaped by decades of deflation. "The Japanese economy is no longer the same economy it was during the long years of deflation. I would encourage you to assess Japan on the basis of this changing reality," he said. "I believe now is the time to invest in Japan." Kiuchi also emphasised fiscal sustainability alongside growth, seeking to reassure investors wary of rising public spending under Takaichi's administration. "Some may hear the words 'proactive public finances' and assume that they simply mean relaxation of fiscal discipline - that is not what we are pursuing," he said. Instead, he argued that strategic investments would boost Japan's growth potential, leading to higher wages, incomes and tax revenue while preserving fiscal sustainability. The government has rolled out a growth strategy targeting more than 370 trillion yen ($2.34 trillion) in public and private investment by fiscal 2040 in areas including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and content industries.
