Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field is required.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through fewer than two years of work experience in a related job discipline are required.
  • Proficiency with computers, including electronic spreadsheets, databases, financial systems, and word processing applications.
  • Proficiency with university research, financial, and human resources/payroll systems, including Oracle, AURA, Concur, Workday, or similar systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to solve bookkeeping problems independently with attention to detail.

  • Financial and analytical skills with an understanding of financial processes and controls, including budget reconciliation.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Library departments to prepare, monitor, and analyze budgets and help coordinate year-end reporting for the operating budget.
  • Prepare monthly financial forecast reports for the Central Budget office, correct account errors using established procedures, and advise on the financial impact of Library Operations and Service decisions.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual department reporting processes.
  • Review department requests for supplies, services, and other procurement for compliance with University and Library policies, processes, service needs, and budget allocations; provide chart-of-accounts information as needed.
  • Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable activities using established procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
  • Perform journal entries or expense transfers in the Oracle system as needed.
  • Support new and ongoing training for department staff.
  • Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and financial tracking tools.
  • Respond to and research accounts receivable and accounts payable inquiries, including vendor payments and individual reimbursements, with guidance from others.
  • Collect, interpret, and perform routine analyses of payables data and serve as an informal resource to associates with less experience.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A college or university degree in a related field, preferably accounting or finance.
  • At least two years of finance, accounting, or financial auditing experience.
  • Aptitude for financial terms and formulas or prior experience using finance formulas for estimations, projections, and budget calculations.
  • Knowledge of general accounting standards, budgets, invoices, payment tracking, and fiscal reporting.
