Nuclear Medicine Technologist
About the job
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) and/or RT(N) is required within one month of hire.
- A current Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) license is required within one month of hire.
- Two years of experience in nuclear medicine is required.
- Demonstrate knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served on the assigned unit, including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles appropriate to the patient population served.
- Assess and interpret patient-status data to identify patient needs and provide appropriate age-related care.
- Perform general nuclear medicine and PET/CT procedures using accepted principles and practices.
- Accurately assess examination quality, appropriateness, and results.
- Maintain accurate isotope and quality-assurance process records as required by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
- Educate patients by explaining procedures.
- Complete record entries in the computerized system.
- Assist in maintaining image files and other records.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Maintain competencies in nuclear medicine based on current scientific knowledge.
- Advanced knowledge of nuclear medicine principles.
- Advanced knowledge of radiation protection, physics, and radiopharmaceuticals.
- Basic computer literacy, including word-processing software applications.
