We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Resident Engineer to join our team in Portadown, Northern Ireland, based in our heat pump manufacturing facility.
This pivotal role will serve as the bridge between our manufacturing and NPI engineering teams, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, product development, and manufacturing support, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and effectively prioritise different team requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience within a product design and manufacturing environment.
What you’ll do
- Act as the primary liaison between the manufacturing team and the Octopus Centre for Heating Technology (OCHT) R&D team
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the manufacturing site and the R&D team to drive project success, conducting regular meetings and holding both teams accountable for project goals and progress
- Identify and resolve issues that may arise during New Product Introduction, with an emphasis on Design for Manufacture
- Implement improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality
- Manage engineering change requirements for product design within the manufacturing process
- Provide technical support and guidance to the manufacturing team to troubleshoot and resolve product and other mechanical/electrical engineering-related issues
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, decisions, and changes
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering or another related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience within a manufacturing environment
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making, who is happy to work in a cross functional role with a matrix of stakeholders
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully completing complex projects on time and within budget
- Proven experience (that you can talk about!) in managing and aligning the requirements of multiple teams and stakeholders, and dealing with ambiguity
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work on-site in Portadown every day
- Knowledge of heating / HVAC technology or similar industries is a big plus
