About the job
- Hold current Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the state where applying to teach.
- Have 3 years of bedside experience with RN/BSN, or 6 years of bedside experience with LVN/Associate’s Degree.
- Meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of nursing practice and broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Be able to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings and work independently without close supervision.
- Demonstrate successful handling of day-to-day nursing lab operations and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have current knowledge or experience in a clinical setting.
- Maintain current immunizations and Basic Life Support certification.
- Continuously improve instruction by reviewing and using innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
- Use, or be willing to acquire skills to use, online activities to enhance course content and interactive teaching and learning.
- Assist in reviewing and revising course syllabi and instructional guidelines within the program.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the program director on time.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Maintain student attendance, grades, skills check-off forms, and program data by established deadlines.
- Assist with updating and maintaining student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
- Teach lecture content and clinical rotations at varying times and locations according to program needs, including days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends.
- Participate in professional development, maintain continuing education hours for license renewal, and stay current with college updates.
- Participate in assigned committees as availability permits, prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
