Requirements
  • Completion of 300 hours of training in auto mechanics or three months of auto-mechanics experience, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise in hydraulic systems, including controls, component troubleshooting, and hydraulic hose assembly.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from original equipment manufacturer diagnostic software from Ford, General Motors, or Cummins beyond simple fault codes.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing modern diesel engine technologies and complex exhaust after-treatment systems.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing air brake systems, air suspension systems, and pneumatic controls.
  • Current and valid heating, ventilation, and air conditioning certification with practical HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills with theoretical and practical understanding of electrical resistance and voltage drop principles.
  • Ability to complete a background check.
Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and emergency breakdown services on Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles, transit buses, road coaches, shuttle buses, grounds maintenance equipment, and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, air conditioning, air brakes, electrical systems including multiplex systems, suspension including air suspension, exhaust, emission, steering, engine cooling, and charging and starting systems.
  • Use modern diagnostic equipment, including original equipment manufacturer software, automotive scan tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Use oxy-acetylene equipment, plasma cutters, MIG welders, and metalworking tools for metal fabrication and repairs.
  • Attend meetings and training and work weekends and special events when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least five years of extensive diagnostic experience using Ford, General Motors, or Cummins original equipment manufacturer diagnostic software to interpret complex data beyond simple fault codes.
  • At least three years of experience with modern diesel engine technologies, including repair and maintenance of advanced exhaust after-treatment systems.
  • At least three years of experience diagnosing and repairing air brake systems.
  • Automotive ASE Master Certification.
  • Experience with compressed natural gas-powered engines.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing grounds, non-road, and heavy equipment.
  • Experience using a fleet management system to document work.
  • Class B commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement.
