ODATA deploys DeltaFlow liquid cooling in Mexico.

ODATA deploys DeltaFlow liquid cooling in Mexico. By Diego Valverde | Journalist & Industry Analyst - Thu, 09/17/2026 - 11:00 DIA assistant ODATA is deploying Aligned Data Centers' DeltaFlow(TM) liquid cooling technology at its SP04 campus in Brazil and QR03 in Mexico, backed by a US$630 million first-phase investment to support high-density computing workloads across Latin America. As artificial intelligence and advanced computing workloads increase pressure on data center infrastructure, operators across Latin America face a growing challenge: supporting higher computing densities while maintaining thermal efficiency and managing resource consumption. ODATA, a digital infrastructure provider, in collaboration wiith Aligned Data Centers, is addressing this challenge through the deployment of DeltaFlow(TM), Aligned's proprietary liquid cooling technology, at two of its major campuses in Brazil and Mexico. The company announced that installation and testing for the first phase are underway at the SP04 campus in Brazil and QR03 in Mexico, supported by a combined investment of US$630 million. The deployment expands ODATA's cooling capabilities as demand for infrastructure supporting advanced computing applications continues to evolve. Liquid Cooling Addresses Rising Data Center Density The growth of AI and other high-performance computing workloads is increasing thermal densities within data centers, placing additional demands on conventional cooling systems. DeltaFlow(TM) was developed by Aligned in collaboration with Munters, a global provider of data center cooling solutions, to address the thermal requirements of higher-density environments. The technology operates as a secondary fluid circuit within the data hall, continuously recirculating its coolant through a closed-loop system. This approach enables thermal management for high-density computing while supporting ODATA's water conservation objectives. The company says its cooling installations are designed to operate without consuming water during cooling operations. The systems use pure, deionized water in a closed circuit, allowing the fluid to circulate continuously rather than requiring ongoing water consumption for cooling. For data center operators, this architecture connects cooling efficiency with infrastructure scalability, particularly as computing requirements increase across AI and other advanced applications. ODATA's deployment also introduces hybrid cooling capabilities. DeltaFlow(TM) is designed to integrate with Aligned's Delta Cube (Delta[3]) air-cooling system, allowing data centers to combine liquid and air cooling within the same data hall. This flexibility enables operators to accommodate different thermal requirements within a single facility, supporting infrastructure configurations that include both conventional and high-density computing environments. ODATA Extends Cooling Strategy in Brazil and Mexico The implementation builds on ODATA's earlier introduction of Aligned's Delta Cube cooling system in Latin America in October 2024. The company is now expanding its cooling portfolio through DeltaFlow(TM), positioning liquid cooling as a component of its infrastructure strategy for next-generation workloads. Ricardo Alário, CEO of ODATA, says the deployment reflects the company's approach to responding to changing infrastructure requirements across the region. "As the global demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow, the data center industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Bringing DeltaFlow(TM) technology to Latin America reflects our commitment to anticipating the constantly evolving needs of the market," says Alário. He adds that ODATA aims to establish DeltaFlow(TM) as a reference in liquid cooling while expanding the company's contribution to the region's capacity to support next-generation applications. The investment in Brazil and Mexico therefore extends beyond the introduction of a new cooling technology. It also reflects the growing importance of thermal management as an infrastructure consideration for data center development. Local Manufacturing Supports Regional Expansion DeltaFlow(TM) is already being manufactured at Munters' facility in Araucária, Paraná, Brazil. The production center complements existing manufacturing operations in the United States and supports ODATA's installations in Brazil and Mexico. The manufacturing footprint is also intended to support future projects in Chile and Colombia, providing a regional supply chain for the company's planned infrastructure expansion. Local production in Brazil is expected to support manufacturing employment and improve supply chain logistics, potentially enabling faster deployment of cooling systems across ODATA's regional operations. Keith Dunnavant, Vice President of Offer Strategy and Portfolio Management at Munters, says the company is expanding DeltaFlow(TM) unit manufacturing to support ODATA's deployments in Brazil and Mexico. "Our global manufacturing presence allows us to support Aligned and ODATA with their next-generation cooling technologies as they continue expanding digital infrastructure capacity across Latin America and other regions," Dunnavant says. With liquid cooling now being deployed across two major ODATA campuses, the initiative places thermal infrastructure at the center of the company's strategy for supporting higher-density computing.

Monday roundup: Aligned, DE-CIX, Nokia, planters.

Monday roundup: Aligned, DE-CIX, Nokia, planters. A new data center project, a new IX, and some rural broadband expansion: Aligned Data Centers has broken ground on a giant new data center campus in western Pennsylvania. It will be called "Project Phoenix" and will bring 2GW of capacity across 3 facilities in the town of Shippingport. That's on the Ohio River about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh near the border with Ohio. It also happens to be the home of the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station, which earlier this year announced an expansion and a deal with Meta. DE-CIX continued to expand its IX reach on a global scale with a new strategic partnership. They are teaming up with AzerTelecom to launch AZE-IX in Azerbaijan's capital Baku. The new internet exchange will enable network operators in the region to keep traffic local in a region that gets little global network attention. It's also part of NEQSOL Holding's (AzerTelecom's parent) Digital Silk Way project. And Nokia's technology will be getting a workout in southeastern Georgia. Planters Broadband Coopertive has picked Nokia to help implement new AI-ready fiber network in the region just northwest of Savannah, including Screven, Effingham, Jenkins, and Burke Counties. It's a BEAD project and will leverage Nokia's Lightspan MF-2 access platform and Altiplano Access Controller. Nokia partner KGPCo will supply systems integration expertise to make it all happen. Aligned Data Centers breaks ground on 2 GW 'Project Phoenix' campus at legacy Shippingport energy site. 11 Sept 2026 By: IDCNOVA Region: North America Aligned Data Centers has commenced construction on "Project Phoenix," a 2 GW data center campus in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of a legacy industrial site into modern digital infrastructure. The project, spanning three facilities, is expected to anchor an estimated $10 billion in regional economic investment and signals growing momentum behind large-scale data center development in Western Pennsylvania. The groundbreaking carries broader significance as demand for digital infrastructure continues to surge across the United States, placing increasing pressure on developers to balance capacity growth with community responsibility and grid reliability. Project Phoenix is positioned as a model for how advanced data center development can be pursued without shifting costs onto local ratepayers or compromising energy affordability. "Project Phoenix represents the future of responsible data center development," said Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned. "The project is a legacy reimagined that transforms a dormant industrial site into a foundational asset for the local community. Beyond delivering critical infrastructure for our customers, this investment establishes a powerful new economic hub for Western Pennsylvania and creates long-term prosperity for local workers and the community." A central feature of the project is its approach to power. The campus will rely on its own dedicated onsite power source rather than drawing from the local electrical grid. Situated in the Shippingport Industrial Park, the campus is adjacent to the Shippingport Power Station, a former coal plant being redeveloped into an advanced natural gas energy campus. Once completed, Project Phoenix is expected to deliver substantial excess power capacity back to the grid, boosting supply for the nation's largest power grid operator and Pennsylvania consumers. Aligned has also endorsed Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) requirements and signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge, underscoring its commitment to energy affordability, workforce development, transparency, and environmental protection. "We proudly support Governor Shapiro's GRID standards and are a signatory of the Ratepayer Protection Pledge," Schaap added. "We have always held ourselves to a higher bar because doing things the right way is simply who we are. We aren't just a responsible developer; we operate these facilities and stay in the communities we build, so the long-term success of our projects and communities is essential to our continued growth." The economic impact of the project is substantial. Project Phoenix is expected to support approximately 3,000 construction jobs and create an estimated 640 full-time careers for ongoing campus operations, while catalyzing thousands of indirect jobs throughout the local supply chain and regional economy. The campus is also projected to generate new government revenue annually for Beaver County. "Project Phoenix represents a significant investment in the future of Western Pennsylvania and the region's digital infrastructure," said Beth Lowry, CEO of Holder Construction. "We're proud to partner with Aligned on this transformative project and help bring a world-class data center campus to the community." Brett Burgett, CEO of Kokosing, echoed that sentiment: "Transforming a legacy industrial site into a next-generation data center campus requires vision and world-class execution. We are honored that Aligned has trusted Kokosing as a partner to bring Project Phoenix to life. Together, we are delivering sustainable, critical infrastructure while providing thousands of highly skilled tradespeople the opportunity to build the future of their own community." Shippingport Mayor John Erickson emphasized the project's local significance: "For decades, Shippingport has been defined by powering the country as the birthplace of commercial nuclear energy. Project Phoenix honors that legacy, opening a new chapter by taking a historic site and rebuilding it into a modern engine of innovation. By creating thousands of jobs and sustainable career pathways for the next generation, this is far more than an infrastructure project - it is a profound investment in our community's future." On the environmental front, each Project Phoenix data center is engineered to require zero water for operational cooling, utilizing an advanced closed-loop system that continuously recycles pure, deionized water. The facilities are expected to have a minimal overall water footprint comparable to a standard commercial office building. Aligned is also pursuing Green Globes certification at Project Phoenix, a comprehensive green building rating system administered by the Green Building Initiative, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable design.
