OpenGov expands government ERP footprint to 38 states as AI reshapes public-sector modernization. OpenGov is expanding its government ERP presence across the United States, with its footprint now reaching more than 38 states and nearly 20 new ERP implementations underway in 2026. The growth comes as state and local governments increasingly look beyond traditional financial management systems toward platforms that connect a wider range of operational functions. The development reflects a broader change in what government organizations expect from ERP. Rather than treating ERP primarily as a back-office system for financial transactions, agencies are increasingly looking to connect finance, budgeting, procurement, workforce management, utilities, infrastructure, and other operations through shared data and workflows. For OpenGov, that consolidation also has implications for AI adoption: bringing previously fragmented operational data into a common environment can provide a more reliable foundation on which AI-enabled workflows can operate. Government ERP moves beyond the finance department. OpenGov has added ERP deployments in states including Alaska, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oregon, and Virginia during 2026. "Government ERP is being redefined," said Eric DiProspero, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenGov. "For decades, ERP was primarily a transactional financial system. That era is ending." DiProspero said the emerging model connects areas including finance, budgeting, procurement, people, utilities, infrastructure, and operations around common data and workflows, giving governments a stronger operational foundation while preparing them for greater use of AI. The shift mirrors a wider ERP trend beyond the public sector. Organizations increasingly want fewer boundaries between their financial systems and the operational processes that generate the underlying data. For governments, however, that integration has the added complexity of spanning functions ranging from permitting and utility billing to grants, infrastructure, and public-sector workforce management. Consolidating fragmented government systems. Two recent OpenGov projects illustrate how that consolidation can take shape. The Town of Frederick, Colorado, has expanded its use of OpenGov into a broader enterprise platform, adding Financial Management, Budgeting & Performance, Utility Billing, and Grants Management to existing Enterprise Asset Management and Permitting & Licensing deployments. According to OpenGov, the town is targeting time-intensive financial processes including journal entries that currently consume more than 20 hours of staff time each week. The expanded environment is also intended to centralize the tracking, compliance, and reporting associated with more than 400 grant opportunities. The City of Plattsburgh, New York, meanwhile, selected OpenGov for an ERP transformation spanning financial management, payroll, permitting and licensing, tax and revenue, and utility billing. The city, which serves approximately 20,000 residents, is replacing long-standing systems after identifying challenges including fragmented workflows, slow system performance, and continued dependence on paper-based processes. OpenGov is also emphasizing implementation speed as part of its ERP strategy, using product and government subject-matter experts in a model intended to enable some deployments to be completed within months rather than years. Building an ERP Foundation for Government AI. The more significant longer-term question is how this consolidation changes the role of AI in public-sector ERP. OpenGov's Public Service Platform brings accounting, asset management, billing and revenue, budgeting, grants management, human capital management, permitting, purchasing, and other functions together through a common data model. Its built-in AI capability, OG Assist, is designed to let government employees surface information, work with data, and complete tasks within existing workflows while retaining the permissions and controls of the underlying OpenGov environment. That architecture highlights an increasingly important issue for enterprise AI: sophisticated models alone are unlikely to overcome fragmented underlying systems, inconsistent data, and disconnected workflows. "AI raises the stakes for modernization," DiProspero said. "You cannot build an AI-ready government on fragmented systems and disconnected data." His argument is that governments seeking meaningful value from AI first need an operating environment in which data and workflows can work together. Government ERP becomes a foundation for connected operations. OpenGov's expansion points to a broader evolution of ERP modernization. For state and local governments, replacing legacy ERP is increasingly about more than upgrading financial software. It can also mean establishing a common operational layer across departments that historically relied on separate applications, manual processes, and disconnected datasets. That distinction becomes more consequential as AI moves from information retrieval and assistance toward workflow execution. AI systems operating across budgeting, procurement, workforce, infrastructure, and finance require access to reliable operational context as well as appropriate permissions and governance. OpenGov says more than 2,000 cities, counties, school districts, special districts, and state agencies currently use its technology. Its expansion to more than 38 states suggests that the public-sector ERP market is increasingly being shaped by the same question confronting enterprises elsewhere: before organizations can make their operations more autonomous, they first need to make their data and workflows more connected. Kansas City, Missouri has significantly improved its infrastructure management using OpenGov's Enterprise Asset Management platform, nearly tripling annual road resurfacing and reducing its projected maintenance backlog by more than half. The city faced a $4 billion deferred maintenance challenge and operated with a pavement condition index of 52 out of 100. Street repairs were prioritised by time since last resurfacing rather than actual road condition, with crews spending roughly four hours daily on manual surveys. After implementing OpenGov's platform, Kansas City moved from spreadsheet-based planning to real-time scenario modelling and cloud-based data. Annual street maintenance funding doubled from $20 million to $40 million, whilst resurfacing increased from 180 to 519 lane miles yearly. Over three years, the city resurfaced more than 1,500 lane miles and eliminated over 900 hours of annual manual survey work.
Orange County, California, has modernised procurement operations across 22 departments and 19,000 employees using OpenGov Procurement & Contract Management. The county centralised more than 2,400 active contracts into one system, replacing spreadsheets and email approval chains, and expanded its supplier pool by 10%. Orange County participated in OpenGov's private preview programme, helping shape new procurement capabilities announced at NIGP Forum 2026. The AI-powered platform connects agencies and vendors from sourcing through payment. The county also created the SoCal Procurement Alliance, uniting over 95 public agencies across five Southern California counties to collaborate on more than 1,100 cooperative contracts. New features include contract authoring, vendor management, and AI-powered tools that reduce manual work whilst maintaining procurement oversight. SCAD welcomes World Cup fans to Atlanta. Thursday, June 18th, 2026 The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is proud to announce an extensive partnership with the FIFA World Cup 26(TM) Atlanta Host Committee (AWCHC), the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and the City of Atlanta to develop and install an intuitive wayfinding campaign, launch immersive art activations, and manage social media strategy to support the upcoming historic FIFA World Cup 26(TM) matches. More than 200 SCAD students and alumni from many of the university's top-ranked degree programs contributed to AWCHC initiatives through physical and interactive art, panoramic campaign implementation, and seamlessly integrated technology. Through these dynamic efforts, Atlanta will raise the bar as one of the most innovative of the 16 host cities for this year's World Cup. The AWCHC approached SCAD in 2024 to engage the university's collaborative innovation studio SCADpro - which generates business solutions for the world's most influential brands - on several projects in preparation for the future matches. These projects include the wayfinding campaign The Last Mile, which navigates visitors around and toward the stadium using graphics, signage, and accessible digital counterparts. The Atlanta Stadium perimeter also hosts several interactive murals and art installations in key locations downtown. Following the successful creation and implementation of The Last Mile, SCADpro's next project tasks SCAD students to lead social media campaigns for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) during the matches, managing strategic and creative outreach across multiple platforms including official accounts for @fwc26atlanta, @atlchamber, and @atlantawhereyoubelong. Commissioned by developer CP Group for The CTR in downtown Atlanta, Michael Porten (SCAD M.F.A., painting, 2012; SCAD B.F.A., illustration, 2004) presents ATL, a bold new site-specific public work that operates simultaneously as sculpture, landmark, and dynamic media platform. Instantly recognizable through its iconic abbreviation, the large-scale installation transforms familiar text into an immersive spatial experience, positioning itself at the intersection of public art, architecture, and civic identity while welcoming guests to The CTR. SCAD Art Sales served as a partner with the City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs' "Bridges, Tunnels, and Walls" public art and urban activation initiative. The university commissioned Taylor White (SCAD B.F.A., illustration, 2007) to create a mural along the wall of a downtown Northside Drive corridor. Drawing on the artist's signature fusion of hyperrealism and abstraction, the mural titled Now That The Sun Came Out, I Miss The Rain features saturated colors, Georgia-inspired foliage, surreal elements, and vibrant patterns, which combine to create a visually striking composition that offers a memorable expression of Atlanta's creative spirit. SCAD Art Sales also partnered with OpenGov and Kevin Bongang (SCAD M.F.A., illustration, 2013; SCAD B.F.A., illustration, 2009) on GREETINGS, a vibrant large-scale mural at 308 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard across from Atlanta Stadium. Anchored by a flowing ribbon of color that expands across the wall, the mural represents the collective energy of partnerships and institutions working together, resulting in a dynamic composition that celebrates unity, progress, and the power of shared purpose. In a neighborhood gateway mural at the Georgia Power substation off Metropolitan Parkway, Jaylyn Lassiter (SCAD M.F.A., painting, 2022) will create a new work commissioned by Georgia Power and Design Essentials. Together in Hair is a visual celebration of community, identity, and cultural connection expressed through Afro-textured hair. Inspired by the shared experiences found in salons, barbershops, and homes, the mural highlights hair as both a personal expression and a cultural tradition rooted in history and storytelling. Creative design manager for Atlanta United FC Jose Hadathy (SCAD B.F.A., painting, 2013) was selected to create the official Atlanta Host City poster. A vibrant love letter to the city, Hadathy's composition comes alive with MARTA trains, lush greenery, historic landmarks that include Martin Luther King, Jr.'s home, The Wren's Nest, the Hammond House Museum, and, of course, the state's iconic peach motif. For soccer fans and local residents interested in these visual experiences, SCAD has launched a new interactive map that highlights these dynamic AWCHC initiatives, student and alumni art installations, and unique tourist attractions located on the SCAD Atlanta campus, including the 4D experience SCADstory, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film, and dynamic performances at SCADshow. With more than 500,000 visitors expected, Atlanta will host eight matches of the FIFA World Cup 26(TM) at Atlanta Stadium, including a semifinal Wednesday, July 15. Atlanta will become one of only two U.S. cities, alongside Los Angeles, to have hosted both the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup(TM).
