Requirements
- A Bachelor of Engineering or a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Civil Engineering is required.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Five or more years of relevant construction engineering experience are required.
- Highway experience should include some or all of the following: reconstruction of asphalt and concrete pavements, drainage systems, roadway lighting and traffic signals, utility protection or relocation, pavement markings or striping, and related work.
- Bridge experience should include several or all of the following: concrete and steel demolition; repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel; steel erection; construction of reinforced concrete decks; retaining walls or substructure units such as piles, piers, and abutments; reconstruction of approach roadways; inspection of Work Zone Traffic Control; and related work.
- Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment is required.
- The candidate should be detail- and goal-oriented and proficient in verbal and written communication.
Responsibilities
- Lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge projects in accordance with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and local agency standards.
- Apply the standards in Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Construction Manuals and Standard Plans, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials standards.
- Apply and monitor work zone traffic control plans, including Work Zone Traffic Control and Maintenance of Traffic plans.
- Perform civil engineering cost estimates.
- Communicate and coordinate with construction team members, manage, train, and mentor junior civil engineers, and coordinate with other project disciplines during construction.
- Complete work accurately in accordance with quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and special requirements.
- Manage the preparation of Daily Inspection Reports documenting work performed; manpower, materials, and equipment used; field measurements and quantities of work completed; and other pertinent information.
