Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of learning strategies and programs across the organization and lead projects and programs to ensure timely completion within established constraints.
  • Conduct needs assessments for training and staff development to enhance managers' and associates' performance in achieving company goals and objectives.
  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to monitor the effectiveness of learning solutions and programs.
  • Engage leaders as teachers and build collaborative working relationships with Human Resources Business Partners, business leaders, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and direct multiple projects or programs and identify interdependencies within and across programs.
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships with executive sponsors, assigned audiences, and their leaders to support effective business decisions.
  • Translate program needs into actionable plans that are repeatable and scalable while balancing learning quality, available capabilities, capacity, and operational costs.
  • Consult and provide advice on the learning development process for successful delivery of learning solutions, programs, and initiatives.
  • Support a collaborative learning culture that engages employees, managers, and the associate readiness team in building the organizational skill base.
  • Establish a measurement strategy to ensure learning solutions support and positively impact business metrics.
  • Lead project teams by providing expectations and timely performance and development feedback, establishing a vision and two-way communication, distributing workloads, setting objectives and ownership, and monitoring progress and results.
  • Design, develop, and implement blended learning solutions that address root-cause issues and drive business performance when required.
  • Facilitate learning using approved facilitator resources or coordinate internal and external facilitators when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Industrial-Organization Psychology, or a related field, or an MBA.
  • Four years of progressive experience in one or more Human Resources specialty functions, with significant experience in talent management such as talent acquisition, employee or leadership development, instructional design, training, or performance management.
  • Four years of experience managing multiple priorities and projects through successful delivery and implementation under time, budget, and political pressure.
  • Retail experience.
  • Experience with multiple design modalities, including e-learning, classroom, virtual, and gamification.
  • Experience with instructional design methods such as ADDIE and SAM.
  • Experience facilitating.
  • Related industry certifications or credentials such as PMP, PHR, or CPT.

Target raises dividend to $1.16, Lowe's to $1.25 as retailers defend payout streaks

Target raised its quarterly dividend to $1.16 from $1.14, whilst Lowe's increased its payout to $1.25 from $1.20. Both retailers reported second-quarter results on 19 August 2026. Target's increase follows a period of flat dividends and comes after a tariff refund boosted quarterly earnings. The company yields 2.8% and paid $518 million in dividends during the quarter. Chief financial officer Jim Lee stated the firm prioritises business investment first, dividends second, and buybacks last. Lowe's generated $3.1 billion in free cash flow against $673 million in dividends. However, the company faces balance sheet challenges, with negative shareholders' equity of $7.44 billion and debt-to-EBITDA of 3.0 times following recent acquisitions. Management aims to reduce leverage to 2.75 times by mid-2027. Lowe's yields 2.4%.

Major US retailers pocket $5B in tariff refunds as Walmart gets $2.9B, Target $994M, but shoppers see little benefit

Major US retailers have received over $5 billion in tariff refunds this week alone, with Walmart getting $2.9 billion, Target $994 million, and Home Depot $730 million. The Trump administration is refunding approximately $166 billion in tariff revenue after the Supreme Court struck down its sweeping tariff policy, having returned $100 billion so far. Despite studies showing consumers bore the brunt of initial tariff costs through higher prices, most companies are reinvesting the refunds rather than passing savings to shoppers. Retail executives indicated in earnings calls they plan to put the money back into their businesses. Consumers have filed class-action lawsuits against companies receiving refunds, but none have concluded. Americans have limited recourse to recover funds if companies don't voluntarily lower prices.

Lowe's CEO warns of cautious consumer spending amid macro and geopolitical uncertainty

Lowe's reported mixed second-quarter results, with revenue falling short of analyst expectations due to pressure on DIY consumer spending. The DIY segment represents 60-65% of Lowe's revenue. CEO Marvin Ellison cited several factors affecting consumer behaviour: customers remain cautious about discretionary spending due to macro and geopolitical uncertainty, plus higher fuel prices above $4 per gallon. Lowe's Q2 sales rise 8.3% to $26B, maintains full-year EPS outlook at $12.25

Lowe's reported second-quarter sales of $26 billion, up 8.3% year-over-year, with comparable sales rising 0.2%. Lowe's Q2 sales reach $26B with 0.2% comparable growth, updates 2026 outlook

Lowe's reported second quarter 2026 net earnings of $2.4 billion with diluted earnings per share of $4.27, matching the prior year. Total sales reached $26.0 billion, up from $24.0 billion in the second quarter of 2025. Comparable sales increased 0.2%, driven by strong performance in professional services and a 15.7% increase in online sales, offset by DIY market pressures. The company recognised $96 million in pre-tax expenses related to acquisitions of Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group. Excluding these expenses, adjusted diluted EPS increased 1.6% to $4.40. Lowe's updated its full-year 2026 outlook, maintaining total sales guidance at $92.0 billion but lowering comparable sales expectations from up to 2% growth to flat. The company paid $673 million in dividends during the quarter and operated 1,761 stores as of 31 July 2026.
