Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience as a 3D Lighting Artist in a film production, animated television series, or visual effects environment, preferably on a feature film.
  • Strong knowledge of RenderMan, 3Dlight, or V-Ray.
  • Strong knowledge of Foundry Katana.
  • Strong knowledge of Foundry Nuke.
  • Ability to write basic Python scripts to automate simple tasks.
  • A keen eye for detail and knowledge of how light works in the real world.
Responsibilities
  • Light and render computer-generated shots.
  • Create and modify lighting scenes in Katana.
  • Set up AOVs in RenderMan.
  • Ensure continuity across shots in a sequence.
  • Work with supervisors and leads to achieve the correct visual in compositing.
  • Composite shots in Nuke to achieve the final look.
  • Project matte painting onto cards or geometry in Nuke.
  • Work with the Matte Painting Supervisor and use output from the digital matte painting department.
  • Optimize RenderMan render settings for the cleanest and fastest output on the render farm.
  • Troubleshoot Katana files for technical issues.
  • Communicate problems and blockers to the lead or supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Execute reviews requested by the Supervisor and Director using an analytical and proactive approach.
  • Quality-check render layers to ensure correct output to compositing.
  • Maintain production timing and quotas using a Shotgun dashboard.
  • Organize work and prepare dailies for presentation.
  • Collaborate supportively with other team members.
  • Mentor and support less experienced artists by providing guidance and instruction.
