XPO opens 2 service centers as network expansion continues.

XPO opens 2 service centers as network expansion continues. Arizona, Missouri terminals mark third, fourth openings of 2026. Staff Reporter October 5, 2026 1:49 PM, EDT Key takeaways: XPO has opened service centers in Arizona and Missouri, marking the company's third and fourth facility openings of 2026 as the less-than-truckload carrier continues a long-term expansion of its network. The new facilities in Mesa, Ariz., and Cameron, Mo., add capacity in growing freight markets near Phoenix and Kansas City, respectively, and are part of a broader investment in XPO's North American network. The 51,000-square-foot Mesa service center has 86 dock doors and more than 100 employees. XPO said the facility complements its existing Phoenix service center, adding capacity to meet increasing freight demand driven by industrial investment and cross-border trade with Mexico. An XPO spokesman said in an email that the Mesa facility is the company's first ground-up service center opening of 2026. The renovated 13,000-square-foot Cameron facility has 32 dock doors and more than 30 employees. Located at the intersection of Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 36, the service center strengthens XPO's presence along major north-south and east-west freight corridors in the Midwest, the company said. "These new service centers deepen our presence in two critical freight markets and reflect our strategic approach to investing in our network," said Matt Carroll, president of XPO's West Division. "We've added capacity where our customers need it most, positioning us to support their growth while delivering the world-class service they count on." The Kernersville, N.C., facility, called one of XPO's crown jewels, is the carrier's largest by door count with 333. (XPO) Earlier this year, XPO opened renovated service centers in Lubbock, Texas, and St. Louis. The facilities opened in January and February, respectively. Since 2021, XPO has opened 35 service centers and increased network dock-door capacity by 15%. With the additions in Mesa and Cameron, the company now operates 300 service centers serving 99% of U.S. ZIP codes and providing cross-border service to and from Canada and Mexico. The St. Louis facility was acquired as part of XPO's purchase of Yellow Corp. service centers following that LTL carrier's bankruptcy. XPO paid $870 million for 26 owned terminals and two leased properties in an initial Yellow real estate auction. The acquisition was viewed as a rare opportunity to expand terminal capacity in strategic freight markets, where large terminal sites are expensive to build and increasingly difficult to secure near major metropolitan areas. Among the acquired properties were terminals in Kernersville, N.C., and Carlisle, Pa., which reopened in May and June 2025 after renovations. They became XPO's largest service centers by door count and footprint, respectively. The network expansion comes as demand from U.S. manufacturers for LTL shipping is rising for the first time in three years, XPO CEO Mario Harik said July 30. He added that truckload capacity constraints also continue to support freight market momentum.

XPO opens new terminals in Phoenix, Kansas City markets.

XPO opens new terminals in Phoenix, Kansas City markets. LTL carrier's North American terminal count reaches 300. · Thursday, October 01, 2026 Less-than-truckload carrier XPO announced Thursday that it has added new locations in Arizona and Missouri, increasing its terminal count to 300 across North America. A new 51,000-square-foot facility in Mesa, Arizona has 86 dock doors and over 100 employees. The terminal gives XPO (NYSE: XPO) needed capacity to serve the Phoenix market, where it already operates a freight assembly center. The region is experiencing an increase in demand given recent industrial investments and growing cross-border trade with Mexico. A 13,000-square-foot terminal in Cameron, Missouri (approximately 50 miles north of Kansas City) has 32 dock doors and over 30 employees. It sits near the intersection of I-35 and U.S. 36, serving both north-south and east-west freight corridors. "These new service centers deepen our presence in two critical freight markets and reflect our strategic approach to investing in our network," said Matt Carroll, president of XPO's West Division. "We've added capacity where our customers need it most, positioning us to support their growth while delivering the world-class service they count on." The carrier has increased door capacity by 15% over the past five years through the opening of nearly 35 new locations. It inked a deal in 2023 to buy 28 terminals valued at $870 million from defunct Yellow Corp. With a network spanning 300 terminals, XPO provides direct coverage across 99% of U.S. ZIP codes alongside cross-border service in and out of Canada and Mexico. Why it matters? XPO's expansion enhances its network density and geographic reach, strategically positioning the carrier in high-demand corridors. This increased infrastructure improves service reliability and competitive capacity, enabling XPO to better target high-yield local accounts and capture greater market share.
