Requirements
  • A Master's Degree is required.
  • One to three years of collegiate athletic training experience is required.
  • Must be BOC Certified and possess New York State athletic training licensure, certification, or registration.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
  • Must be certified to work in the United States and New York State.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of medical problems and assessment and evaluation skills is required.
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions under state licensure guidelines is required.
  • Thorough attention to injury tracking and documentation is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations with patients, medical professionals, staff, and families is required.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision is required.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I and III rules and regulations is required.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide practice and game coverage for athletic teams, including travel to away venues and work on weekends and nights.
  • Provide on-site care and management of injuries and illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation in and out of season.
  • Document patient encounters electronically and maintain reports related to athletic injuries, incidents, and rehabilitation.
  • Communicate with physicians and coaching staff about athletes' injury status.
  • Provide timely physician referral assistance for student athletes needing additional care.
  • Review medical and insurance forms to determine participation eligibility and establish an emergency list for each team.
  • Coordinate and implement injury-prevention programs and customized preventive strategies for patients.
  • Provide treatments and pre- and post-practice or game care for student athletes.
  • Monitor and control environmental risks to create a safe playing environment.
  • Provide healthcare information and advise athletes, parents, and coaches on the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of competitive athletes.
  • Provide sport-related accommodation recommendations for student athletes with restrictions or limitations.
  • Provide visiting teams with supplies and training-room assistance.
  • Assist with maintaining, cleaning, and stocking training rooms and with procuring and monitoring athletic supplies and equipment.
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with administering athletic insurance policies, athletic training policies and procedures, and emergency action plans.
  • Move supplies such as water and ice to game and practice venues.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Adhere to the University's Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy and Procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two to four years of collegiate athletic training experience is preferred.
