Requirements
  • MD or DO (or equivalent) degree with Board Certification in Vascular Surgery.
  • Advanced fellowship training in aortic surgery, either open or endovascular, or equivalent high-volume experience.
  • Eligibility for Oregon medical licensure and hospital privileges.
  • Documented proficiency with complex aortic surgery, including arch surgery, F/B-EVAR, TEVAR, TAAA, reoperations, and perioperative management.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary programs or teams and experience with quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, change management, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring, with an academic track record appropriate to rank.
  • Availability to participate in group scheduling and call responsibilities to ensure vascular surgery services are available seven days per week, 24 hours per day.
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, clinical, operational, and academic leadership for a comprehensive multidisciplinary Aortic Center covering aneurysms, dissections, and genetic syndromes.
  • Lead program growth, quality and safety performance, care pathway standardization, multidisciplinary coordination, referral development, and academic output in education and research.
  • Participate actively in complex open and endovascular aortic care, advanced imaging and case planning, and longitudinal patient surveillance.
  • Maintain a high-volume ambulatory and surgical practice within the Division of Vascular Surgery.
  • Support and mentor junior faculty and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Partner with division leadership, perioperative services, and ambulatory operations to optimize clinical workflows across the division and institution.
  • Support the Residency and Fellowship Program Director by contributing to fellow and resident education and developing and delivering a structured aortic curriculum.
  • Collaborate with vascular surgery, surgery research, and cardiovascular institute leadership to expand the Center's clinical trials and research grants portfolio.
  • Work with division leadership and departmental research administration to develop, oversee, and manage the Center's extramural funding streams.
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds on nursing units.
  • Perform a broad range of vascular surgical procedures with significant competence in open and endovascular procedures, including treatment of aortic and peripheral arterial disease.
  • Document clinical care accurately and promptly, including histories and physicals, operation notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Develop a referral base for vascular surgery patients.
  • Participate in research, resident education, and conferences as an OHSU faculty member.
