What believers are saying

  • September 2025 Europe catalog added ten new trips, including Madeira, Bulgaria, and Rome.
  • June 2025 long-haul launch added 14 new trips, signaling continued demand-led expansion.
  • Demand looks strong: SKR reported over 8,000 bookable dates and ahead-of-year bookings.

What critics are saying

  • Online complaint venues already show recurring service disputes; reputational drag can compound fast.
  • Large catalog breadth invites operational complexity across 8,000-plus departures and multiple continents.
  • If quality slips on small-group promises, SKR Reisen loses its core positioning quickly.

What makes SKR Reisen unique

  • SKR Reisen sells small-group trips, usually 4-16 guests, with authentic local encounters.
  • 2026 Europe catalog spans 163 itineraries across 32 countries and over 2,400 departures.
  • 2026/2027 long-haul catalog offers 165 roundtrips in 63 countries, all capped at 12 guests.

Vietnam's SmartSolar raises $1.3M in debt to expand rooftop solar services for SMEs

SmartSolar, a Vietnam-based energy tech startup, has raised $1.3 million in debt financing from European investors. SECO Startup Fund, a Swiss government programme, provided a $300,000 loan, whilst German travel company SKR Reisen contributed $1 million in debt facility. Founded in 2024 by Kevin Junker, SmartSolar operates a "solar-as-a-service" model, installing rooftop solar panels for SMEs at zero upfront cost. Customers pay based on monthly energy consumption, saving 25% to 30% on electricity costs. The startup has grown from 15 customers in March 2025 to 80 clients across 100 locations in southern and central Vietnam. The new funding will support expansion across the country and growth in food and beverage and travel sectors. Total funding now exceeds $3.1 million.
