About the job

Requirements
  • Experience working within Finance functions, Finance shared services, GBS or Finance transformation environments, with knowledge of one or more Finance process areas such as Record-to-Report (R2R/RTR), Procure-to-Pay (P2P/PTP), Order-to-Cash (O2C/OTC), FP&A or Finance service delivery.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience across GBS, shared services, enterprise service management, service design, operations transformation or consulting, including leading a meaningful service-management design or implementation workstream from assessment through detailed design and into implementation readiness, adoption or stabilisation.
  • Strong understanding of how services are organised across retained functions, GBS/GCC delivery teams, Global Process Owners, Centres of Excellence and external providers, including the relationship between service ownership, process ownership, delivery accountability and business relationship management.
  • Practical experience defining service portfolios and catalogues, service boundaries, ownership, customer groups, access routes, service levels, governance forums, escalation paths and service-lifecycle arrangements.
  • Experience using customer or employee insight, service journeys, interaction data and feedback to improve service access, transparency, knowledge, self-service and resolution, while balancing experience with control, efficiency and operational practicality.
  • Experience designing service-performance frameworks that combine operational, outcome, experience, quality, control, capacity, productivity and value measures; establishing metric definitions and ownership; and using service reviews and performance insight to trigger action.
  • Experience designing hand-offs, service acceptance, issue resolution, escalation and performance governance across internal teams and, where relevant, outsourced or managed-service providers. Detailed sourcing, contracting and commercial negotiation expertise is not required.
  • Understanding of how workflow and case-management platforms, service portals, knowledge tools, integration, analytics, automation and AI enable the GBS service model; ability to define business, data and control requirements, challenge solution options and assess implications for roles, channels, routing, controls and human oversight. Hands-on configuration expertise is not required.
  • Ability to independently lead a defined client workstream, facilitate structured workshops, manage a small team, develop high-quality executive materials and build trusted relationships across GBS, functional, operational and technology stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Assess the current GBS service-management model, including the service portfolio, service definitions, customer groups, access channels, demand patterns, request and case handling, service ownership, governance, performance data, provider interfaces, enabling technology and root causes of service-user and operational pain.
  • Lead the design of the target GBS service-management framework, covering the service portfolio and catalogue, service boundaries, customer eligibility, service ownership, delivery responsibilities, service levels, controls and the lifecycle for introducing, changing and retiring services.
  • Define roles, accountabilities and decision rights across GBS leadership, service owners, Global Process Owners, retained functions, service relationship managers, delivery teams and external providers; establish governance forums, service-review routines and escalation routes.
  • Design how internal customers access and experience GBS services, including customer segmentation, service journeys, channels, self-service, knowledge, request and case management, routing, tiered support where appropriate, status transparency, communications and feedback mechanisms.
  • Develop the service-performance and reporting framework, including outcome, quality, experience, control, productivity, capacity, value and cost-to-serve measures; define SLAs and OLAs where appropriate, metric definitions, calculation logic, source data, ownership, data-quality requirements, reporting cadence and intervention thresholds.
  • Design finance cross-tower and provider service integration, including end-to-end hand-offs, service acceptance, issue resolution, demand and capacity management, escalation, provider-performance governance and accountability where a service crosses organisational or supplier boundaries.
  • Establish how performance insight will drive improvement, including root-cause routines, prioritisation criteria, ownership of improvement actions, benefits tracking and governance of a continuous-improvement backlog. Govern and enable improvement rather than personally delivering every process-improvement initiative.
  • Assess operating-model implications of technology, data, automation and AI, including workflow, case management, portals, knowledge, analytics, virtual agents, intelligent routing and agent-assist capabilities; define how these capabilities affect channels, roles, decision rights, controls, exception handling and human oversight.
  • Translate the service-management design into clear business, data and control requirements for technology, architecture and data specialists; maintain alignment between the operating-model intent and enabling solution without owning platform configuration.
  • Develop the implementation roadmap and practical service-management assets, including service definitions, governance terms of reference, operating procedures, service-review packs, reporting requirements, training and adoption materials; support pilots, service transition and early-life stabilisation.
  • Lead the assigned client workstream and a team, managing scope, deliverables, risks, dependencies and quality; produce executive-ready recommendations and contribute to proposals, points of view and reusable GBS service-management assets.

Accenture caps staff AI spending at $29 a month after $1,000 bills

Accenture has capped employee AI spending at $29 (£21.75) a month after some staff ran up bills of $1,000, according to a report by 404 Media. The consulting firm wants to curb runaway costs as employees use AI for more everyday tasks. Companies are typically billed by usage, like a utility. Last week, some staff were told their access to Anthropic's Claude had been pulled entirely. Others are also reining in costs. Uber capped engineers' Claude spending at $1,500 a month after using up its AI budget in four months, while Microsoft has reportedly cut its Claude spending by about a third. The curbs come as Anthropic prepares for a public listing, targeting a valuation as high as $2tn. Investors are reportedly considering about $1.5tn.

Accenture's AI push: analysts see earnings reaching $10.3B by 2029 on 5.2% yearly revenue growth

Accenture is shifting AI work from pilots to deeply embedded systems, according to recent deals with UMass Memorial Health, Dell, Microsoft and Workday. The UMass Memorial project is a multi-year AI data platform, while the Dell alliance pitches private AI infrastructure to regulated clients. Analysts expect revenue to grow 5.2% a year over the next three years, with profit margins rising from 11.3% to 11.9%. They forecast earnings of $10.3 billion by 2029, up from $8.4 billion today, on revenue of $86.3 billion. The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 14.2x, against 21.9x for US IT peers. Risks include slower decision cycles in federal and EMEA work, which could curb consulting demand and margins.

Accenture plans $9.5B shareholder returns and $5B acquisitions as it bets on AI reinvention

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) is betting on enterprise AI as its main growth engine. At its Investor and Analyst Day, the company targeted at least mid-single-digit constant-currency revenue growth in fiscal 2027 and 2028, rising to mid- to high-single-digit growth from fiscal 2029. Chief executive officer Julie Sweet said AI will create new demand that exceeds work lost to automation. The company has grown its AI and data workforce from 40,000 to nearly 110,000. Accenture plans to return $9.5 billion to shareholders in fiscal 2027 and spend about $5 billion on acquisitions. It expects annual operating-margin growth of 10 to 30 basis points. Its network of specialised businesses, now 6% of revenue, could double by fiscal 2029. Fiscal 2026 revenue was $74.2 billion, up 5% in local currency.

It confirmed fiscal 2027 guidance, raised its quarterly dividend to $1.71 per share, and completed a long-running share repurchase program. The company also expanded its AI alliances with Dell and Workday and acquired Sagacity. It aims to embed agentic AI into client functions such as HR, finance, and customer engagement. Accenture shares up 77% from June low as Oct. 14 Investor Day nears

Accenture will hold an Investor Day on October 14, where it is expected to detail its long-term strategy, AI monetisation plans, growth guidance, and margin expansion goals. The event follows a rebound in its shares after fears that AI would erode traditional consulting work. The stock hit a low of $118.15 in June, down from a January high of $291.09. It has since gained nearly 77%, helped by fourth-quarter results on October 1 and an expanded collaboration with Dell Technologies. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 6% to $18.7 billion, and new bookings reached $22.2 billion. Accenture expects fiscal 2027 revenue growth of 3% to 6% in local currency. It raised its quarterly dividend by 5% to $1.71 per share, payable November 13, 2026. Its market capitalisation is about $139.6 billion.
