Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 ELLIS partnership funds 36 researchers, expanding long-term AI talent supply.
  • July 2026 open roles show active hiring across quant, machine learning, and security.
  • June 2026 grant winners and Oxford PhD prizes keep G-Research prominent in academia.

What critics are saying

  • Trading alpha decays fast; hedge funds like Citadel and Jane Street compete aggressively for talent.
  • Heavy reliance on London-based specialists raises replacement risk if compensation or culture slips.
  • No visible product diversification leaves returns hostage to research performance and market regime shifts.

What makes G-Research unique

  • London quant firm with 400-plus developers and deep in-house research infrastructure.
  • G-Research embeds generative AI across SDLC; Forrester reported up to 200% task gains.
  • NextGen partnerships with ELLIS and Oxford strengthen its academic recruiting pipeline.
