Requirements
  • Journeyman's certificate, Red Seal, or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical systems, including schematics and diagnostics.
  • Recent experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Ability to work independently in remote or bush environments.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new software applications.
  • A clean driver's abstract with no suspensions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • At least two previous supervisory references.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and interact tactfully and professionally with people.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Ability to embody the company's safety, quality, integrity, responsibility, teamwork, and related workplace values.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs for trucks and equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs in the field, including work on hoses, fittings, tires, lights, batteries, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose issues and coordinate complex repairs with certified technicians or external shops.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, excavators, graders, wheel loaders, and other mobile equipment.
  • Check equipment performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Operate a mobile shop vehicle to repair vehicles in the field when required.
  • Operate Class 1 vehicles to move units between job sites, shops, and yards as needed.
  • Assist in recovering and transporting disabled units from remote or bush locations.
  • Liaise with drivers, mechanics, and vendors to ensure timely service and minimize downtime.
  • Operate truck cab computers, two-way radios, and telephones to exchange information with bases, dispatch, supervisors, and other drivers.
  • Complete electronic logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair status.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment.
  • Track truck and trailer downtime and notify the team when units are out of service or returned to service.
  • Communicate needed repairs to drivers and prioritize repairs.
  • Perform repairs for other divisions when required and invoice work through TMT.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A valid Class 1 driver's license.
  • Previous experience coordinating fleet maintenance or working with heavy equipment.
