Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three years of relevant experience are required.
  • The role requires good oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with employees.
  • The role requires the ability to work on multiple projects and assignments simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, and end-user knowledge of accounting software are required.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Concur is required.
  • A valid California driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with Partnership policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business.
  • The employee must be able to work at a computer terminal for 8 or more hours per day and perform frequent repetitive computer typing and sit or stand for most of the day.
  • The employee must be able to lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Employees must provide the highest possible level of service to clients, promote teamwork and cooperative effort, maintain safe practices, and abide by the HealthPlan's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and procedures to prepare financial information and reports.
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to record, classify, and examine financial transactions.
  • Participate in month-end close activities, including creating journal entries for expenses and accruals, uploading entries to the accounting system, and reconciling subledger accounts.
  • Participate in the annual financial audit by preparing requested audit schedules and responding to ad hoc audit requests.
  • Respond to employees, outside vendors, and members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Partner with other Payroll team members to ensure timely and accurate processing of biweekly payroll.
  • Record timekeeping changes and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established practices, policies, and standards.
  • Audit data entered into ADP Workforce Now, including new-hire information, rate changes, benefit enrollments, tax filing changes, employee information changes, and other payroll system entries.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and research issues regarding employee compensation.
  • Process employee reimbursements through Concur.
  • Calculate, prepare, and upload applicable journal entries to the general ledger for monthly payroll expense and accruals, and run, analyze, and explain month-to-month variances.
  • Review human resources reconciliation and process and upload employees' biweekly retirement contributions and employee benefit invoices to the general ledger.
  • Maintain confidential payroll records for permanent employees through appropriate filing, retrieval, retention, and compilation.
  • Remain current on federal and state regulations relating to the Labor Code, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and Division of Labor Standards Enforcement standards.
  • Prepare ad hoc and scheduled reports for audits and at the request of members of the management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is a plus.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional certification is preferred.
