Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer, partner, support, and account teams deliver value through lifecycle management planning and align with customer and partner priorities, strategies, and budgets to structure deals that drive annuity and cloud growth.
  • Develop challenger relationships with customers and partners, understand their priorities and strategies, and structure deals that drive value and contribute to Microsoft growth through revenue-, share-, or consumption-based quota attainment with minimal guidance.
  • Understand high-level customers and partners, grow share and adoption while driving customer business value, and balance customer, partner, and Microsoft needs when crafting value-based solutions.
  • Represent customer and partner requirements in proposals, translate requirements into proposals, identify issues and recommendations for internal stakeholders, and use customer, partner, and industry knowledge to solve problems.
  • Simplify commercial strategies for customers and partners, orchestrate resources to resolve deal issues, and engage partners such as scale partners and cloud solution providers to establish mutually beneficial customer solutions.
  • Apply commercial best practices and strategies, understand product strategy by solution area, analyze competitive positioning and use cases, and use industry, competition, and Microsoft offering knowledge to accomplish goals.
  • Provide feedback to align pricing and commercial strategies with customer needs, recommend alternatives internally and externally, align business strategies within the region, learn local subsidiary strategy, and help peers understand relevant business strategies and follow through on plans.
  • Lead collaboration with sellers and business stakeholders to achieve revenue targets, leverage deal desk, sales support, partners, and finance resources, contribute to strategic discussions, and align commercial strategy with customer needs.
  • Plan and execute partner strategies, construct commercial deals to meet customer needs, resolve cross-functional issues, improve deal constructs, and foster cross-segment and cross-group collaboration.
  • Share knowledge, support onboarding of others in the same role, and respond proactively to feedback.
  • Identify business opportunities across the deal lifecycle, including AI-enabled customer solutions, upsell and cross-sell opportunities, footprint expansion, and transformational opportunities; use customer and Microsoft commercial strategies to grow the Microsoft footprint and maximize pipeline conversion.
  • Secure value-aligned upsells, identify account growth opportunities, create and use multiple equivalent offers, oversee offers, and apply knowledge of product and solution monetization and deal-making limitations.
  • Develop industry and industry-trend knowledge, create customer-centric offers by engaging account teams, identify effective monetization of account-plan opportunities, and build contract structures that capitalize on opportunities.
  • Lead internal sales and management teams through the sales process, optimize investment and deal customization, craft processable deals with standard or custom amendments and documentation, and use internal resources to answer customer questions about contract terms.
  • Handle objections and negotiate contractual amendments within delegated empowerment, participate in deal strategy development, track stakeholder execution and milestones, ensure the value sold and deployment plan are considered, and establish a strategic sales execution cadence using pipeline metrics, close rates, and competitive selling.
  • Use AI tools to analyze multiple data inputs and inform strategic decisions that improve sales and revenue production and velocity; develop an outlook on upcoming territory opportunities.
  • Use customer business needs and desired outcomes to drive revenue growth through ethical selling, develop pricing scenarios and proposals, conduct competitive analysis, and provide trusted-advisor support to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Ensure appropriate monetization of commercial solutions, lead early commercial-strategy engagement and planning, coordinate with peers and stakeholders on territory planning, develop and execute close-plan strategies, and contribute deal-making best practices.
  • Identify the correct commercial channel, use Microsoft financing knowledge where applicable, apply ethical-selling principles, and align renewal or negotiation language with the customer's understanding.
  • Ensure commercial deal execution adheres to commercial-solutions policy, local regulatory requirements, company policies, and deal-making guidance; coach sales teams on compliance and maintain sales and negotiation strategies within applicable guidelines and legal standards.
  • Partner with Deal Execution Compliance and audit teams where applicable, use business-conduct and integrity tools confidentially, raise compliance issues promptly, support less experienced team members with compliance investigations, advise on potential non-compliance, and redirect issues appropriately.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on compliance, including GDPR, promote compliance with Microsoft sales-deal-execution policies such as anti-corruption policy, apply appropriate security classifications to documentation, and ensure compliant win/win deal-making.
  • Develop and manage commercial plans and contribute to strategic account plans, using AI to map and maximize qualified medium-sized or complex commercial opportunities.
  • Use AI tools to analyze customer commercial-opportunity history, including discounts, concessions, and consumption, and anticipate and verify upcoming renewals as appropriate.
  • Lead or co-lead complex commercial deals, negotiate complex terms with leaders, account teams, and Deal Managers, and maintain an understanding of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use formal negotiation strategies, anticipate vulnerabilities, understand customer value measures, craft solutions to meet customer needs, define walk-away positions, consult leaders on negotiation-team planning and reporting, engage senior stakeholders, and drive accountability for negotiation outcomes.
  • Analyze deals for risks involving contract growth, partner-channel risk, profitability, legal issues, and contracting; assess and escalate risks, coach others on risk assessment and escalation, use corporate and local resources, stay current with tools, and determine when to take risks such as market-making deals.

LinkedIn ex-CEO Ryan Roslansky to leave Microsoft in 2026 amid executive departures

Ryan Roslansky, Microsoft's executive vice president and former LinkedIn CEO, will leave the company at the end of 2026. Roslansky, who joined LinkedIn in 2009 and became CEO in 2020, cited family ties to the San Francisco Bay Area as his reason for departing. He will remain as an adviser to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella through December. His exit follows a string of executive departures at Microsoft, including gaming chief Phil Spencer and Office executive Rajesh Jha. Roslansky moved into Microsoft 365 oversight earlier this year after Dan Shapero became LinkedIn's CEO. During Roslansky's six-year tenure leading LinkedIn, membership grew from 700 million to 1.3 billion users. LinkedIn posted 11% revenue growth for Microsoft's most recent fiscal year.

Elizabeth Warren demands answers as Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft claim $96B in AI tax breaks

Senator Elizabeth Warren is demanding answers from Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft over $96 billion in lost federal revenue from AI-related tax breaks. Despite reporting massive revenues in Q2 2026, the tech giants saw significant tax reductions last year. Amazon paid $7.8 billion less in tax, Meta nearly $7 billion less, whilst Microsoft and Alphabet each qualified for roughly $19 billion in tax cuts. The companies are benefiting from provisions in Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, including 100% bonus depreciation for AI data centres and expanded R&D tax credits. Corporate tax revenues have dropped 23% this year, largely due to these AI tax breaks. Warren and fellow lawmakers have sent letters to the companies' CEOs questioning the tax breaks and their lobbying efforts, arguing the costs have been imposed on American families through cuts to Social Security and other programmes.
