Requirements
  • Broad experience across business, plant manufacturing, or engineering operations.
  • Successful experience leading a Lean Six Sigma or process improvement team.
  • Experience as a project manager with multiple successfully completed industrial, logistics, or manufacturing repair Lean Six Sigma projects.
  • Knowledge of and successful completion of the criteria for a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt, or Green Belt.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodology, with the ability to apply them across a broad spectrum of processes.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A certificate signifying successful completion of the requirements for Master Black Belt, Black Belt, or Green Belt.
  • A bachelor's degree and two to three years of increasingly responsible experience in operational management or operational consulting, with a proven track record in operations and project management, operational program development, planning, and process improvement.
  • Understanding of Lean, including the Toyota Production System, and Six Sigma methodology.
  • Comprehensive understanding of process delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations, and financial conditions.
  • Expertise in process delivery, accreditation standards, assigned functions, and the development and management of operational and capital budgets.
  • Understanding of factors driving competitive advantage, including federal government and industry process changes, competitor actions, legal and regulatory changes, and technological trends.
  • Ability to accomplish results and integrate functions with business plans.
  • Ability to build, attract, and develop a superior management team by setting high standards for behavior, performance, quality, credibility, and integrity.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of commercial quality control plans.
  • Knowledge of or experience with drafting services and Computer Aided Engineering Graphics support, engineering drawing preparation and maintenance, and maintaining an online engineering library.
  • Ability to maintain engineering drawing copies, computer databases, FAA specifications, electronic equipment modifications, National Stock Number files, and FAA equipment modification publications, and provide engineering library research assistance.
  • Proficiency training on FAA National Airspace System systems and equipment, support documentation, and work processes is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality improvement services using Lean Six Sigma methodology and techniques to the Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center.
  • Facilitate, plan, coordinate, review, evaluate, and report activities for organizational continual improvement projects.
  • Identify and remove the causes of defects and errors in FAA Logistics Center processes using Lean Six Sigma techniques.
  • Function as a project manager, facilitator, consultant, and analyst as necessary.
  • Facilitate assessment of problems, compilation and analysis of data, development of improvement teams, design and collection of metrics, and improvement efforts.
  • Support performance improvement and implement active daily management to sustain performance.
  • Support development and execution of standard work, daily critical-to-quality metrics, visual management, rounding schedules, and huddle approaches.
  • Work with champions and senior leaders to identify, select, and scope quality improvement projects.
  • Conduct quality improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methods and techniques to improve current and future processes.
  • Facilitate teams of process owners in developing value stream maps of current processes and eliminating non-value-added steps.
  • Develop or revise metrics to measure improvement in FAA Logistics Center processes.
  • Report the status of quality improvement projects to senior leaders.
  • Identify and implement enterprise-wide process improvement activities using Lean Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Support the development, prioritization, and execution of performance improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Assist with implementation and training for functional areas regarding process engineering maintenance plans and staff training.
  • Collect, monitor, and evaluate project key performance metrics and develop project status reports.
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement teams following the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control roadmap or a similar improvement process.
  • Communicate gaps in process designs and implementations to upper management and support compliance, quality, and continuous improvement requirements.
  • Provide drafting services, including operation and maintenance of the drafting file system, reproduction of drawings, and preparation of engineering drawings, electronic artwork, and electronic media.
  • Provide Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center technical library maintenance services.
  • Provide Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Specialist services, including training, monitoring, and technical guidance for project planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout.
  • Provide logistics expertise for planning, scheduling, monitoring, estimating, and coordinating logistics tasks related to supply support, support equipment, maintenance support facilities, and Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation.
  • Provide management and program analysis services, including planning, scheduling, conducting, and reporting analyses of management, administrative, and logistics programs and procedures.
  • Provide project management services covering project planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout, while maintaining individual project files with background information, design notes, and other assigned-project materials.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology.
  • A master's degree in Business or Process Administration.
