About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of product management experience, with a track record of driving execution for a mature product or portfolio at scale; experience with distributed systems, databases, or developer platforms is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on software development experience, including writing or architecting production applications.
  • Ability to materially improve execution of a mature product through release quality, operational rigor, and developer experience.
  • Technical or developer background that includes building or architecting client-side mobile, desktop, or web applications, and comfort with prototyping.
  • Practical understanding of complex distributed systems, including high availability, disaster recovery, security, and access control, and their application to mobile or embedded apps and server-side sync infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with a public cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Working understanding of edge computing and AI concepts relevant to on-device and edge inference, and ability to translate them into product strategy.
  • Use of AI tools in day-to-day product management work, such as requirements, research, or analysis, and ability to promote adoption across the team.
  • Written and verbal communication skills for technical design reviews and communication with customers, press, and executive leadership.
  • Fluency with agile development processes and tooling such as JIRA or equivalent, and experience operating in a fast-moving cross-functional organization.
  • Ability to set direction under ambiguity and drive alignment across engineering, marketing, and sales without formal authority.
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to learn the product and team.

Responsibilities

  • Turn product strategy for the Couchbase Mobile portfolio, including Couchbase Lite, Sync Gateway, Capella App Services, and Edge Server, into a detailed, sequenced roadmap and drive it through to a shipped and adopted product.
  • Own day-to-day end-to-end execution by writing detailed technical product requirements, partnering with engineering and design, validating pre-release features hands-on, and contributing to JIRA, sprint and roadmap reviews, and agile ceremonies.
  • Improve operational excellence across the mature, multi-product portfolio by tightening release quality, closing documentation and developer-experience gaps, and removing accumulated friction.
  • Shape portfolio support for on-device and edge AI use cases and translate that into concrete, engineering-ready requirements.
  • Work directly with customers and prospects to pressure-test use cases, turn them into functional requirements, and make build-or-don't-build decisions.
  • Serve as the first line of product ownership for live customer escalations, working with field, sales, and support leadership to unblock accounts and driving fixes through engineering.
  • Represent Couchbase Mobile in talks, webinars, and technical content, and equip sales, solutions engineering, and marketing with training and positioning.
  • Represent the portfolio in cross-organizational planning with senior leadership.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, or developer platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in client mobile application technologies such as Flutter or KMM is a plus.
