Requirements
  • Must be physically and mentally qualified to safely operate transit vehicles and perform all related essential job functions, subject to applicable U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, climb steps, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and maintain required hearing, visual, speaking, standing, walking, and sitting capabilities.
  • Ability to learn new processes, applications, software, and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instruments.
  • Ability to analyze problems and research solutions.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and office.
  • Organizational skills in research and record keeping.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS products.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, including impact drills, hammers, pliers, and wrenches.
  • Must be pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at Miami University.
  • Must hold a valid Ohio driver's license and have a clean motor vehicle record.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain tracking logs of scheduled work and completed tasks.
  • Maintain, secure, and document custody control of intelligent transportation systems and information technology assets according to payment card industry and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair fleet intelligent transportation systems as directed by the Transit Planner.
  • Learn new fleet intelligent transportation systems hardware and software.
  • Collect field data using geographic information systems.
  • Install and remove signage throughout the service area at the direction of the Transit Planner.
  • Provide basic helpdesk assistance to users when third-party assistance is inappropriate or unavailable.
  • Analyze data in Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Conduct field surveys to collect ridership data.
  • Assist management with special projects.
  • Attend assigned training events and meetings.
  • Follow BCRTA procedures and policies and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Work weekends when required for fleet intelligent transportation systems projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • GIS coursework is preferred but not required.
