Hyundai Motor and Kia make strategic investment in US AI developer VAST Data

Hyundai Motor and Kia have made a strategic investment in VAST Data, a US developer of artificial intelligence operating systems, the company said on the 13th. The article gives no figure for the investment. VAST Data's flagship product, VAST AI OS, combines data, core computing services, and AI agent execution in one platform. 42dot, the self-driving technology affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, has used it for research and development for several years. It cut sensor and video data by a ratio of 2 to 1. Hyundai Motor and Kia plan to move their AI development into a single data architecture built on VAST Data's products. The work covers advanced driver assistance systems, large language models, and robotics. The automakers expect the tie-up to make collecting and processing autonomous driving data more efficient.

This fiery EV newcomer is more than just a speed demon.

This fiery EV newcomer is more than just a speed demon. Magna's GV60 SUV from Hyundai Motor Group is an ambitious and convincing attempt to take on Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, Audi Sport and Lexus's F-Sport. Oct 11, 2026 - 5.00am It's easy to make an EV quick in a straight line, much harder to make one that's an engaging drive. So hats off to Genesis, which has done exactly that with the GV60 Magma SUV. Genesis is the luxury division of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group (which also includes Kia), while Magna is its new performance arm.

Exclusive: hyundai-tvs electric three-wheeler targets late-2027 to early-2028 launch.

Exclusive: hyundai-tvs electric three-wheeler targets late-2027 to early-2028 launch. Two versions planned with combined monthly production of 3,000-4,000 units; vehicle co-engineered with TVS Motor to be manufactured at Hosur. The concept design for Hyundai's E3W and E4W electric micro-mobility vehicles that won Gold at the 2026 IDEA Awards in the Concepts & Speculative Design category. Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company are working to launch their jointly developed electric three-wheeler in late 2027 or early 2028, according to information reviewed by Autocar Professional. The vehicle, internally called U834, is expected to be manufactured at TVS Motor's Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu. India will be the first market, followed by expansion into international markets. The programme envisages two versions, with combined production of around 3,000-4,000 units a month. This translates into an annualised output of 36,000-48,000 units once production reaches the planned level. These volumes reflect the production plan, rather than a first-year sales target. An initial prototype build is planned for early 2027, with production expected to begin towards the end of the year. The launch timing remains tentative and will depend on testing, certification and manufacturing readiness. Pilot ahead of production. Hyundai Motor India's 'Blue Move' pilot around its Gurugram headquarters is providing real-world operating feedback ahead of the jointly developed three-wheeler's production programme. The pilot uses air-conditioned electric three-wheelers to assess passenger comfort, vehicle ergonomics and software integration. Findings from the exercise are expected to inform development ahead of the initial prototype build planned for early 2027 at TVS Motor's Hosur facility. Emails sent to TVS Motor Company and Hyundai Motor India seeking comment on the project, planned volumes and launch timeline did not elicit a response at the time of publication. Hyundai design, joint engineering. Hyundai is leading the design, with the vehicle being co-engineered with TVS Motor. The Indian manufacturer is expected to handle manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, sales and service. The collaboration combines Hyundai's design and development capabilities with TVS Motor's electric three-wheeler platform, engineering expertise and understanding of local operating conditions. The companies signed a joint development agreement in April 2026 to commercialise electric three-wheelers for India and additional markets, following the E3W concept's unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. For Hyundai, the programme extends its participation in Indian mobility into three-wheelers. For TVS Motor, it adds a jointly developed product to its electric vehicle business, with the company responsible for manufacturing and bringing it to market. IDEA Gold recognition. Hyundai's E3W and E4W electric micro-mobility concepts won Gold in the Concepts & Speculative Design category at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards, or IDEA. The award recognised the concepts, rather than the forthcoming production vehicle. The E3W concept showcased features aimed at Indian operating conditions, including adjustable ground clearance, thermal management for tropical climates and flexible interiors for passenger transport, goods delivery and emergency services. The production vehicle's specifications, pricing and branding have yet to be announced. Those details will establish how the two planned versions are positioned and how much of the concept's design reaches the market.

Hyundai Motor Group sets out multi-pathway plan at Aachen.

Hyundai Motor Group sets out multi-pathway plan at Aachen. Hyundai Motor Group is spreading its bets across four powertrain routes, matching development to uneven demand in global markets * October 6, 2026 Hyundai Motor Group set out a multi-pathway electrification strategy at the Aachen Colloquium on 6 October 2026, spanning battery electric, hybrid, extended-range electric and fuel cell vehicles. Manfred Harrer, President and Head of R&D Division, framed the merging of engineering and AI as central to future competitiveness. Each powertrain is matched to different markets and customer needs. The group's exhibits run from a polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysis stack and hydrogen tank to battery packs, a two-stage motor and the TMED-II hybrid transmission. Software forms the other half of the pitch. A planned Data Flywheel would use vehicle data and customer experience to improve products after they leave the factory, with development built around digital twins and virtual validation. In a statement, Harrer said: "The future of mobility will not be defined by a single technology. Nor by a single form of intelligence. It will be defined by how successfully we connect them. How well we connect different mobility pathways to different customer realities. How successfully we connect engineering with artificial intelligence. And how effectively we connect people, knowledge and innovation across our industry." Engineers present on hydrogen adoption hurdles, scaling electrification and battery systems on 7 October. Attendees can also drive the GV60 Magma and All-New Nexo on an 11-12 km route near the venue.
