Requirements
  • Ability to use appropriate cleaning supplies and chemicals according to departmental procedures.
  • Ability to follow applicable schedules, sanitation, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to walk for up to 6–7 hours per day, stand for 1–2 hours per day, and perform occasional grasping, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds and frequently push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Hearing sufficient for normal conversation and vision sufficient for general and near vision.
Responsibilities
  • Perform general and aseptic cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms, auxiliary rooms, and other specified hospital areas using proper guidelines and procedures.
  • Clean and prepare patient rooms, beds, stretchers, and other assigned areas in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Scrub, mop, and buff floors.
  • Dust and polish furniture.
  • Clean interior glass windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures.
  • Clean kitchen sinks, tables, and dining areas.
  • Remove trash from assigned areas to designated trash stations.
  • Maintain assigned areas in a neat, clean, and sanitary condition.
  • Attend at least 85% of Environmental Services Department monthly staff meetings annually.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Three to six months of housekeeping experience in a hospital or institutional setting.
