Resmed launches AirTouch(TM) F40 full face fabric CPAP mask in the U.S.

Resmed launches AirTouch(TM) F40 full face fabric CPAP mask in the U.S. Latest addition to Resmed's growing fabric mask portfolio combines a soft, breathable fabric cushion with a minimalist design for greater comfort and choice. October 19, 2026 08:00 ET | Source: Resmed, Inc. SAN DIEGO, Oct. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Resmed (NYSE: RMD, ASX: RMD), the leading health technology company focused on sleep, breathing and care delivered in the home, today announced the U.S. launch of AirTouch F40, the newest addition to its growing portfolio of fabric continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) masks. Designed for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to provide greater comfort and choice in therapy[1], the AirTouch F40 helps address key factors that can influence long-term adherence. OSA is a growing health challenge, affecting more than one billion people worldwide.[2] In the U.S., an estimated 61 million people have OSA, a number projected to rise to nearly 77 million by 2050.[3] CPAP therapy remains the gold standard treatment for OSA[4], and for those on CPAP, mask comfort and fit can play an important role in how people stay engaged with therapy over time. AirTouch F40 brings Resmed's proprietary ComfiSoft(TM) fabric cushion to a minimalist design that is intended to adapt to a person's face as they move throughout the night. Because comfort preferences vary from person to person, expanding mask choice helps give people another option to meet their individual needs. The mask's wide fit range and intuitive design are also intended to make it easier for healthcare providers to help patients find a comfortable fit and support them throughout therapy. AirTouch F40 builds on Resmed's growing portfolio of fabric-based mask technology and reflects the company's commitment to delivering more personalized experiences that support patients throughout their therapy experience. Resmed has seen encouraging outcomes across its fabric mask portfolio, including a 6% increase in 90-day compliance among users of a fabric-cushioned mask compared with users of a silicone-cushioned mask.[5] "AirTouch F40 is one example of how we're continuing to redefine what's possible to create more comfortable and personalized therapy experiences," said Justin Leong, Chief Product Officer at Resmed. "By building on the success of AirFit F40(TM) and introducing a new fabric option, we're giving people greater flexibility to choose the mask that works best for them. That's the kind of innovation that can help more people start and stay on CPAP therapy." Key features of AirTouch F40 include: * Designed to fit and move with the user: AirTouch F40 is designed to fit 96% of people[6] with a minimalist design that adapts to the face as people move throughout the night. * Brings fabric comfort to the full-face experience: The ComfiSoft fabric cushion features soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking fabric[7] designed for comfort against the skin. * A familiar platform for existing AirFit F40 users: The interchangeable cushion allows current AirFit F40 users to try the fabric cushion without changing mask systems or being resized or refitted. Connected support throughout therapy AirTouch F40 is part of Resmed's connected sleep health platform, bringing together devices, digital tools and provider support to create a more connected therapy experience and help people stay engaged over time. Through myAir(TM), Resmed's patient engagement app, people can track their therapy progress, access personalized guidance and receive ongoing support throughout their therapy experience. This includes upcoming features such as Equipment Care, a tool that is designed to encourage patients to take action and stay engaged in managing their CPAP equipment. Healthcare providers can use AirView(TM), Resmed's remote monitoring platform, to view therapy insights and support patients between appointments. When used alongside AirView, myAir has been shown to improve therapy compliance from 70% to 87%.[8] AirTouch F40 will be available in the U.S. beginning October 28, 2026. ResMed achieves 9% revenue growth to $1.5B amid sleep apnea demand, but fiscal 2027 guidance misses expectations

ResMed Inc. (NYSE: RMD) is positioned to benefit from growing awareness and penetration in the global obstructive sleep apnea treatment market, backed by its robust product portfolio. The portfolio includes CPAP and APAP machines, led by the AirSense platform, along with masks and accessories. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, ResMed's revenue increased 9% year over year to $1.5 billion. Americas device revenue rose 6%, whilst total Americas Sleep and Breathing Health revenue increased 8%. On 15 September, RBC Capital upgraded ResMed to Outperform, raising its price target to $262 from $244. However, the company faces competitive pressures, particularly from the potential return of Philips Respironics to the US market. ResMed issued 2027 revenue guidance of $5.75 billion to $5.85 billion, below analysts' expectations of $5.92 billion.

ResMed falls 20.5% over 52 weeks despite Q4 revenue beat amid margin compression

ResMed, a San Diego-based developer of medical devices for respiratory disorders, has underperformed the healthcare sector over the past year. The company, valued at $31.5 billion, has declined 20.5% over 52 weeks, whilst the State Street Healthcare Select Sector SPDR ETF rose 21% during the same period. The stock fell 5.1% on 7 August following its Q4 earnings release. Whilst revenue increased 8.6% year-over-year and adjusted earnings per share of $2.95 beat forecasts, operating margin compressed to 30.7% from 33.7% the previous year. Management attributed the margin decline to higher R&D and supply chain costs amid inflation. Despite recent underperformance, the stock has gained 13.5% over the past three months. Wall Street analysts maintain a "moderate buy" rating, with a mean price target suggesting 9.1% upside potential.

Heartstrong Sleep

Heartstrong Sleep daily - sep 6, 2026.

Heartstrong Sleep daily - sep 6, 2026. About Heartstrong | September 6, 2026 Segment 1 - intro / lead story. Good morning. It's Sunday, September 6th, and there's a genuine milestone worth covering in sleep medicine this weekend. For the first time, the FDA is formally reviewing a prescription pill designed to treat obstructive sleep apnea. The drug is called AD109, developed by a small biotech company called Apnimed. The FDA accepted their New Drug Application in July, meaning it's now under active review. If AD109 clears - and a decision could come as early as the first quarter of 2027 - it would be the first oral medication ever approved specifically for OSA. Let's put that in perspective. Sleep apnea has been treated almost exclusively with mechanical solutions since CPAP therapy was introduced in the early 1980s. Oral appliances and surgery exist as alternatives, but a once-nightly pill that directly targets the airway muscle dynamics that cause apnea events is a genuinely new category. Segment 2 - AD109 what it means. In Phase 3 clinical trials, AD109 cut apnea events per hour by about 44 percent. That's meaningful, but it's worth comparing to CPAP. When patients use CPAP consistently, most see a 90 percent or greater reduction in apnea events. So AD109 is not positioned to replace CPAP for most patients - and it shouldn't be. It's aimed at the large group of people who cannot tolerate CPAP or won't stick with it long-term. That group is enormous. Research consistently shows that somewhere between 70 and 80 percent of people with clinically significant sleep apnea in the U.S. are either undiagnosed or untreated. A pill that can bring even a fraction of those people into treatment - and then connect them with a testing and resupply pathway - represents a real shift in the pipeline. For programs like Heartstrong Sleep, the downstream implication is that more patients may be entering care through a new front door. Whether they eventually transition to or add CPAP therapy depends on severity and tolerance, but diagnosis and engagement is the starting point for everything else. Segment 3 - resmed ers Congress data. Now to Barcelona. ResMed is presenting research this week at the European Respiratory Society Congress, which runs September 5th through the 9th. One finding from their dataset is worth highlighting. The data shows that each additional hour of nightly PAP therapy use is associated with a statistically measurable reduction in mortality risk among people with obstructive sleep apnea. This builds on a body of prior research, but what ResMed is adding is real-world usage data from their connected device network - which covers tens of millions of active patients globally. That scale matters. It's not a controlled trial with a small cohort; it's observational data from an enormous, real-world population. The direction of the finding is consistent: more nightly use, better outcomes. And the dose-response relationship - where each additional hour contributes to the benefit - gives clinicians a concrete message for patients who are using their device for 3 hours a night and wondering if it's worth the effort. The answer from this data is yes, and more is better. For resupply and adherence teams, this data is a clinical anchor. When a patient calls because their mask is uncomfortable or they're thinking about stopping therapy, the conversation isn't just about compliance metrics or insurance coverage windows. It's about survival benefit - framed in plain language. Segment 4 - market outlook. Stepping back to the broader market picture. MarketsandMarkets estimates the U.S. sleep apnea devices market at approximately 3.1 billion dollars in 2026, with a forecast of 4.5 billion by 2031. That's roughly 8 percent compound annual growth over five years, driven by rising diagnosis rates, expanded home sleep testing, and growing employer and insurer focus on sleep health as a preventive care priority. For a resupply-focused business like Heartstrong Sleep, that trajectory points to a steadily growing patient population over the next several years. The competitive question is which providers build the strongest patient relationships at diagnosis - and sustain them through the full therapy journey.
