Requirements
  • An LPN or RN degree is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Alabama.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Computer skills for general knowledge of facility computers are preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all populations served.
  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and turn and position residents weighing over 300 pounds.
  • Must tolerate a variety of environments.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
  • Physical presence onsite is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care for assigned residents.
  • Assesses resident conditions, including physical, behavioral, psychosocial, developmental, and age-specific factors, and plans care according to identified problems.
  • Uses the nursing process to provide all levels of direct resident care.
  • Follows all facility policies and procedures.
  • Uses communication and documentation skills to ensure proper plans of care from physicians and other disciplines.
  • Ensures nursing assistants provide quality care and perform their duties according to each resident's plan of care and the facility policy and procedure manual.
  • Performs duties according to established standards of practice for adults and geriatrics.
  • Provides services in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adheres to DCH Behavioral Standards and creates positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, colleagues, and self.
  • Uses electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Adheres to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Communicates with others by phone or face to face.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Performs talking, hearing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, standing, and crouching activities and maintains good balance for extended periods.
  • Performs medium work involving up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
