THE ROLE: The Electrical Controls Technician will be responsible for supporting the rental and sale of Dewatering system solutions, including the Godwin Dri-Prime® and Flygt electric submersible equipment, by providing application, installation, troubleshooting, and repair services for all monitoring and control products within the Dewatering organization. This role will also safely service and repair electrical control equipment and assemble new equipment. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Troubleshoot and make electrical repairs to electrical control equipment including motor starter panels, VFDs, flowmeters and PLCs
- Build electrical control panels that include transducers, switches, drives, power supplies and PLC’s
- Use a multimeter to diagnose problems with low voltage DC signal wiring.
- Provide field support over the phone
- Use computer software to update PLCs
- Read electric control wiring diagrams to build and troubleshoot systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and service with minimal direction on electrical fleet equipment between each rental.
- Basic troubleshooting of diesel engines.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and pump problems.
- Create an accurate and legible parts and repair list for assigned fleet equipment.
- Assist with system setup on customer job sites as needed.
- Operate a service truck and respond to after-hours customer repair calls as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three to five years’ experience in troubleshooting and repairing electric controls, related industrial equipment
- Experience with variable frequency drives and PLC controls preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form at multiple levels
- Ability to communicate clearly on mobile devices
- Legible handwriting
- Ability to calculate general math, standard and metric measurements
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical wiring schematics and mechanical drawings
- Thorough understanding of single phase and three phase electrical systems as well as DC systems
- Ability to troubleshoot control panels for single phase and three phase controls
- Forklift certification preferred
- Service and repair knowledge of electrical equipment
- Knowledge of AC/DC component location and identification
- Knowledge of AC/DC electric and circuit testing skills
- Experience with electrical submersible equipment a plus
DAY IN THE LIFE:
In this role, the working environment is a shop environment subject to all weather conditions, shop noise, and fumes within OSHA standards. The physical demands may include but not limited to bending, squatting, stooping, reaching above shoulder level; prolonged standing on concrete floors; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
SALARY:
The estimated salary range for this position is $58,000 to $64,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
