About the company

Hays Electrical Services

View

Hays Electrical Services installs electrical systems for large construction projects across the United States, from hotels and hospitals to apartment towers and data centers. Many of its jobs are renovations inside buildings that stay open, such as busy hotels, an active hospital and an airport terminal, so crews phase work around guests and patients. Building owners and general contractors hire it for a project's electrical scope, from estimating and 3D design coordination through prefabrication, installation and later service calls. Its crews also install low-voltage systems such as fire alarms, security equipment and data cabling. Hays Electrical Services was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Hays says growth is creating jobs: it cites 146% corporate headcount growth over two years, from LinkedIn workforce data.
  • One Dallas data center posting adds incentive pay: Hays lists journeymen at up to $48 an hour plus $10 hourly.
  • Injuries have not cost crews workdays: Hays reports a zero lost-time injury rate for 2023 through 2025.

What critics are saying

  • Some field leadership jobs mean travel: Hays posts traveling foreman and superintendent roles listed as remote or nationwide.
  • Solar contracts put cash at risk: Hays' utility solar managers track contract penalties and retainage, money withheld until completion.
  • Apprenticeship means night school: classes meet on set weekdays from 5 to 9 PM, about 40 weeks a year.

What makes Hays Electrical Services unique

  • Power-ups have one gatekeeper: on data center jobs, Hays' Energy Marshal controls energizing and lockout of circuits.
  • Hays trains its own electricians: a four-year apprenticeship it co-created, registered with the Labor Department, admits only Hays employees.
  • Hays is set up for out-of-state work: the contractor reports licenses in 38 states.
