Requirements
  • One to three years of laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Safe Quality Food, and Food and Drug Administration regulations is preferred.
  • An Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field is preferred.
  • The candidate must be able to stand for extended periods and lift materials weighing 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must adhere to safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • The candidate must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The candidate must have strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • The candidate must be able to interpret product specifications and testing procedures.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory analyses on raw materials, work-in-process products, and finished products.
  • Conduct analytical testing of Brix, pH, titratable acidity, viscosity, specific gravity, color, and product sensory characteristics.
  • Collect and evaluate production samples according to established sampling plans.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and sanitation verification testing.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, standards, and testing solutions.
  • Record test results accurately in laboratory databases and quality management systems.
  • Assist with product evaluations, shelf-life studies, and validation activities.
  • Verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Safe Quality Food, Food and Drug Administration requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause investigations.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.
