Requirements
  • An Oregon State License as a radiologic technologist is required.
  • Mammography certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is required within 90 days of hire; if not certified upon hire, current Basic Life Support certification through another provider is acceptable.
  • The technologist must demonstrate skills in caring for adult and geriatric patients.
  • The technologist must develop skills in using the computerized information and ordering system.
  • The technologist must use proper radiation-safety protection for patients and personnel.
  • The technologist must practice sterile techniques and follow procedures for blood and body-fluid precautions.
  • The technologist must effectively use the Picture Archiving and Communication System.
  • The technologist must follow procedures for personal protective equipment, infection control, and disposal of hazardous waste and sharps.
  • The technologist must maintain confidentiality regarding patient and coworker information.
Responsibilities
  • Properly operate all departmental mammography equipment and the DEXA unit.
  • Assist the radiologist with special mammography procedures.
  • Obtain patient history and pertinent information, and accurately charge exams daily.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth, development, and life stages.
  • Perform quality control and accurately chart the results.
  • Perform intra-operative specimen imaging as assigned.
  • Research and call for prior images.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of technologist work areas and procedure rooms.
  • Maintain adequate stock and restock supplies as needed.
  • Maintain 15 hours of continuing education in mammography per Mammography Quality Standards Act requirements.
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 mammography exams per month per Mammography Quality Standards Act requirements.
  • Assist with performing first aid as directed when necessary.
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Attend and participate in community events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited program in medical radiography or radiologic sciences is strongly preferred.
  • Previous hospital or radiologic clinic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bone Densitometry certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist certification is preferred.
  • Commercial Driver’s License for driving the mobile mammography unit is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • A satisfactory driving record is required for occasional use of an organization-owned vehicle, including the stated limits on accidents and moving violations and no recent conviction for driving under the influence, suspension, auto felony convictions, or other serious violations.
