About the job
- An associate degree, two years of college coursework, or passing the Paraprofessional’s Exam is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Successful completion of a BCI/FBI check is required.
- Ability to meet applicable educational standards is required.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and consistently execute tasks to meet deadlines is required.
- Ability to understand and manage confidential information is required.
- Written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to lift 25–40 pounds is required.
- Support teacher-led lessons for individual students or groups and follow instructional plans assigned by the teacher or school leader.
- Help plan classroom activities as directed by the teacher and support the teacher in student and parent relations.
- Assist with school activities, including parent-faculty nights, faculty meetings, assemblies, commencement exercises, fundraisers, chaperoning student activities, providing student guidance, and participating on faculty committees.
- Perform clerical duties, including grading papers and making copies.
- Assist the teacher with classroom technology.
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom, and other school areas.
- Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school’s philosophy and mission statement in school activities.
- Perform other assigned duties, including field trips, morning duty, dismissal duty, and lunch duty.
- Work cooperatively with the teacher and others and follow directives from the administrator or designee and teacher.
- Contribute to a positive school climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards.
- Experience in a school or social services setting is a plus.
