Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The candidate must be able to work in person in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift or carry a young child.
  • The candidate must be able to sit and kneel and regularly get down to eye level with children.
  • The candidate must be able to work outdoors daily in a variety of weather conditions.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to build strong relationships with children and co-workers.
  • The candidate must be able to use phone and payment software to enter hours and troubleshoot as needed.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Support classroom staff by assisting in various classrooms as needed, ensuring continuity of care, and maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
  • Assist with facilitating developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum and collaborate with co-teachers and staff.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where children can play, learn, and take risks.
  • Facilitate a collaborative, dynamic, positive, and innovative classroom culture in partnership with Early Learning Center Directors and peers.
  • Engage and monitor children during daily routines, play, hygiene, and learning experiences.
  • Step into toddler or preschool classrooms to maintain required ratios and support transitions.
  • Communicate with teaching teams and report concerns to the directors.
  • Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and maintenance of materials.
  • Monitor and maintain the health, safety, and security of all children in the classroom and follow safety and health guidelines.
  • Direct parent communication to the supervising teacher.
  • Adhere to Early Education and Care regulations and guidelines as defined by the directors.
  • Facilitate and assist with each child's physical, social, and emotional needs.
  • Assist children in verbalizing their feelings and emotions.
  • Create a welcoming environment where each individual is valued, seen, and respected.
  • Support the organization's mission, vision, and values through personal role modeling.
  • Perform other duties as required by the organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Massachusetts Early Education and Care teacher certification.
  • At least 6 months of experience working with young children.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/automated external defibrillator and First Aid certification.
