- Support the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team from response to service requests to project delivery
- Develop design work packages with scope, schedule and effort estimates
- Assist with the resolution of design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion
- Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services to be provided, establishing the basic design criteria with the client, approving technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support completion of projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time
- Provide specialized expertise in Distribution, set high standards for work performance, influencing the establishment of standards, frameworks, and targets for junior members of the team
- Exercise innovation to propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures and standards where possible
- Design overhead and underground facilities for voltages up to 35kV in an electric utility environment such as line rebuilds, structure replacements, cable replacements, voltage conversions, manhole/vault replacements, duct banks etc
- Attend site visits as required for project data and design confirmation, troubleshooting, construction support and quality assurance inspections

4-lane Conlin Road project goes into detailed design stage. The City of Oshawa has retained CIMA+ to complete the detailed design of the Conlin Road reconstruction and widening project. The value of the contract was not mentioned. CIMA+ has been contracted to complete the detailed design of Conlin Road East, from Edenwood Drive to Harmony Road North. The design includes, but is not limited to: * A full road reconstruction, * Widening of the road from two to four lanes, * A multi-use pathway on the south side of the road, * A 1.8m sidewalk on the north side of the road, * A new traffic signals at Riverton Street, * A new roundabouts at the Wilson Road North and Laurelview Street intersections, and * New storm sewers. Oshawa said it has also partnered with the Region of Durham on this design. The region's scope includes, but is not limited to, new concrete pressure pipe feedermain (watermain), sanitary forcemains, local watermains, local sanitary sewers and intersection improvements at both Harmony Road North and Ritson Road North. Community members are invited to attend the public open house on Wednesday, July 15 from 7 pm - 9 pm at Delpark Homes Centre to review the detailed design and presentation. New roundabout. The Conlin Road East reconstruction and widening will be receiving a roundabout construction at Grandview Street North. The work involves the: * Reconstruction and widening of Conlin Road East from east of Harmony Road North to Kurelo Drive, * A new storm sewer along Conlin Road East, * A new multi-use pathway on the south side of Conlin Road East, from Coppermine Street to Kurelo Drive, and * A new sidewalk on the north side of Conlin Road East, from Harmony Road North to west of Kurelo Drive. There will also be work on regional infrastructure including new watermain near Harmony Road North, Coppermine Street and Cayenne Street and new sanitary sewer at Coppermine Street. This project started in August 2025 and is scheduled to be completed by December. The Grandview Street North roundabout construction is planned to be completed this summer, while the work on Conlin Road East between Harmony Road North and Grandview Street North is planned to be completed by December.
CIMA+ appoints two new members to board. June 15, 2026 By Peter Saunders CIMA+ has appointed Glenn R. Kelly and Lyne Martel to its board of directors. Kelly, an engineer by training, has more than 20 years' experience as chair and CEO of private and public companies. He has managed major industrial projects in the energy, cleantech and natural resources sectors. Martel is a director and human resources (HR) executive with more than 35 years' experience in the consulting engineering and industrial sectors. By way of example, she rose to senior vice-president (SVP) of HR at SNC-Lavalin (now AtkinsRealis). CIMA+ announced and formalized the appointments on May 27 at its annual general meeting (AGM) of partners and associate partners. CIMA+ receives 2026 ACEC-NL Engineering Excellence Award for Tacora Resources decarbonization initiative. St. John's, June 10, 2026 - CIMA+, one of Canada's largest private consulting engineering firms, announces that its Tacora Resources Scully Mine GHG Reduction Initiative received a 2026 ACEC-NL Engineering Excellence Award, in the category "Recognition for excellence in engineering", during the award ceremony held on June 9. Presented by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Newfoundland and Labrador (ACEC-NL), the award recognizes engineering excellence, innovation and the positive impact of projects delivered throughout the province. Developed for Tacora Resources' Scully Mine operation in Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador, the initiative supports the client's decarbonization objectives through a comprehensive, data-driven approach to energy management and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction. CIMA+ conducted an integrated review of mining and milling operations to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities to improve energy performance, reduce emissions and strengthen operational efficiency in response to rising energy costs and carbon pricing pressures. The project also enabled Tacora Resources to advance implementation measures and secure provincial and federal funding support. The first measure focuses on optimizing ore dryer performance, a major source of fuel consumption and GHG emissions at the site, while a second phase also currently underway includes the development of an energy management system to support long-term decarbonization efforts. The initiative also supported Tacora Resources' broader sustainability objectives by strengthening its approach to energy and GHG management, contributing to the continuous improvement efforts reflected in industry frameworks such as the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) program.
