Requirements
  • With a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 5 years of Consumer Packaged Goods or Direct Store Delivery sales experience is required.
  • Without a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 10 years of Consumer Packaged Goods or Direct Store Delivery sales experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing and influencing sales teams is required.
  • A clear understanding of Direct Store Delivery route-to-market operations, warehouse operations, and the independent distributor partner business model is required or beneficial to the role.
  • Strategic thinking, operational and retail knowledge, and strong business acumen are required.
  • The ability to travel locally and overnight within the district, to company meetings, company training, and other regions as business needs demand, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage, monitor, evaluate, and update the overall business plan to meet Campbell Snacks objectives.
  • Develop business plans for 60, 90, and 180 days across retailers and multiple geographies to support executional excellence and share growth.
  • Communicate distribution, merchandising, and promotional execution targets.
  • Secure retail space for new items and points of interruption with key retail decision makers through partnership with Independent Distributor Partners.
  • Forge and develop relationships with key retail decision makers.
  • Assess retailer competitive positions, behaviors, and strategies, align them with Campbell Snacks strategic goals, and identify win-win opportunities.
  • Track competitive threats in the market and establish strategic gap-closure plans.
  • Design and forecast quarterly business plans to attain key metrics across the portfolio and deliver the quarterly lock retailer business plan.
  • Design go-to-market strategies with Independent Distributor Partners and use business analytics to recommend plans related to base products, innovation, and marketing activation.
  • Conduct retailer-specific portfolio analysis to identify opportunities and make recommendations.
  • Provide insights and feedback and collaborate with internal retail customer teams on solutions and execution improvements.
  • Communicate retail execution goals and monitor Market Development Leader performance to achieve business strategies.
  • Lead retail development in the assigned area, including designing and maintaining a retail wiring plan for compression selling with Independent Distributor Partners.
  • Establish relationships with elevated levels of retail management through focused compression selling with Independent Distributor Partners.
  • Cultivate, develop, and implement quality joint business engagements with Independent Distributor Partners.
  • Participate in quarterly Independent Distributor Partner business meetings to collaborate on operational matters.
  • Use syndicated and retailer-supplied data to discuss the snacks business, consumer trends, business drivers, and incremental opportunities.
  • Develop growth strategies for route infrastructure and align priorities with local Business Development Managers.
  • Improve route viability by reengineering routes for growth and minimizing route turnover.
  • Recommend potential Independent Distributor Partners for open routes.
  • Design and collaborate with Sales Operations on a route infrastructure strategy.
  • Communicate sales and distribution opportunities and other key information to Sales Operations using available applications and tools.
  • Coach, lead, and influence the internal team to strengthen Independent Distributor Partner relationships and engagement.
  • Review weekly Market Development Leader deployment plans to improve execution, Independent Distributor Partner engagement, retailer visibility, and business results.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations to improve market efficiency and drive growth.
  • Support assigned category functions such as new product development, process improvement, and brand marketing.
  • Track monthly forecasts, maximize supply chain efficiencies, and provide feedback on shipments, consumption data, and inventory changes.
  • Identify potential risks or threats to monthly forecasts.
  • Use performance management plans to develop Market Development Leader skills, capabilities, and behaviors and build a team culture.
  • Conduct Market Development Leader team meetings to share best practices, role-play, and communicate deployment plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Engage retailers and Independent Distributor Partners while navigating a complex route-to-market and distributor model.
  • Assess market needs and deploy resources against business issues and demands.
  • Use iPad business applications to provide current information about business trends.
  • Train, coach, and develop new Market Development Leaders on processes and best practices.
  • Identify and implement growth strategies for infrastructure opportunities.
  • Deliver gross revenue, share growth, executional excellence, and ACV display-gain targets.
  • Establish selling relationships with key retailers and divisional leaders of top retail accounts within the zone.
  • Recruit and develop a high-performing Market Development Leader team that promotes positive Independent Distributor Partner engagement and culture.
  • Hold periodic strategy meetings with the Market Development Leader team to align on goals and opportunities.
  • Identify and mentor Market Development Leaders to support personal development and career progress.
  • Manage the performance of Market Development Leaders who are struggling to meet role expectations.
  • Interact cross-functionally with retailer, sales strategy, operations, supply chain, plant operations, depot management, and Independent Distributor Partner teams.
