AbbVie and Iambic Therapeutics have entered into a multi-year collaboration to accelerate AI-driven drug discovery in immunology, neuroscience, and oncology. The partnership will combine Iambic's molecular superintelligence platform with AbbVie's therapeutic expertise to develop small molecule therapies with first-in-class and best-in-class potential. The collaboration will utilise Enchant v3, Iambic's next-generation multimodal transformer model trained on over 6,000 molecular properties. This technology is designed to optimise candidate properties simultaneously, reducing drug discovery timelines whilst improving success rates. Under the agreement, Iambic will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for success-based milestone payments and tiered royalties on net sales from products generated through the collaboration. The partnership aims to accelerate the discovery process and deliver breakthrough medicines to patients more quickly.
Iambic, a clinical-stage life science and technology company, has launched Enchant v3, the latest version of its AI-driven multimodal transformer model for drug discovery and development. The model features 41 billion parameters and has been pretrained on 4.5 trillion tokens. Enchant v3 can predict more than 6,000 molecular properties across 16 biomedical modalities, including text, assay data, molecule structure, protein structure, images, multi-omics, biologics, clinical trial data, and pharmacokinetics. The system is designed to integrate diverse data sources and improve prediction accuracy as the model scales. Iambic initially launched Enchant in 2024. The company says its platform combines AI with automated chemistry and biology experimentation, and it previously discovered a novel drug candidate that advanced to clinical trials in approximately two years.
