Requirements
  • Foundational understanding of energy markets and energy storage project development.
  • Strong analytical ability: comfortable synthesizing multiple data sources into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tools (LLMs, RAG, agents, automation) to real-world problems—especially extracting insights from unstructured data and building repeatable workflows.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and document processes so others can use and maintain them.
  • Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position; only candidates with current work authorization (e.g., F-1 visa with OPT/CPT authorization) will be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Prototype and deploy AI-enabled workflows for key energy research components, such as: Electricity pricing and cost drivers; “Utility friendliness” summaries; Utility contacts and interaction history; Utility + interconnection options; Interconnection timelines and cost ranges.
  • Develop a filterable “Interconnection Intelligence Map,” leveraging interconnection tools like Piq that catalogs substation specs, MW withdrawal capacity, and estimated interconnection costs; overlay insights with Antora’s customer/project pipeline to identify geographic “sweet spots.”
  • Package your work so it persists after the internship: documentation, handoff materials, and a usable tool/workflow that the team continues using.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with utility tariffs, interconnection processes, and common terminology in grid development.
  • Experience with power/market modeling and data analysis or energy analytics tools (e.g., PROMOD, Orennia, PLEXOS or similar).
  • Experience building lightweight data products (dashboards/maps), pipelines, or APIs—especially for geo-tagged or utility-territory-based datasets.
  • Interest in experimenting with “agentic” workflows (interactive analyst assistants) and iterating quickly from prototype to usable internal tool.

Antora Energy provides zero-carbon heat and power for heavy industry by storing renewable energy as heat using thermal energy storage with carbon blocks as a thermal battery. Excess solar and wind energy is converted into heat and stored, then delivered on demand as electricity or industrial process heat up to 1500°C. This approach targets industries that require large amounts of heat, offering a practical decarbonization option where traditional batteries can’t reach the necessary temperatures or durations. The goal is to scale affordable renewable energy storage for heavy industry, unlocking a large multi-trillion-dollar market opportunity.

What believers are saying

  • The 5 GWh POET project validates commercial deployment at industrial scale.
  • Custom utility pricing unlocks around-the-clock energy without burdening other ratepayers.
  • Expanded San Jose manufacturing supports larger follow-on orders and faster deployment.

What critics are saying

  • First commercial deployment risk remains high if POET underperforms or fails.
  • Regulatory scaling depends on utility-specific charging rates that are hard to replicate.
  • Thermal battery safety incidents would trigger permitting, insurance, and customer adoption setbacks.

What makes Antora Energy unique

  • Antora stores renewable electricity as heat in solid carbon blocks.
  • Its systems deliver up to 1,500°C process heat on demand.
  • Thermophotovoltaic cells convert stored heat back into electricity.

No Solar Energy? No Problem! Gigantic Undersea Cable Will Make It Happen

Sign up for daily news updates from CleanTechnica on email. Or follow us on Google NewsThe Intertubes absolutely lit up earlier today, when the Australian government finally green-lighted the massive, long awaited Australia-Asia Power Link solar energy project. Under the purview of the startup SunCable, AAPowerLink will connect the nation’s vast solar resources to the energy-hungry island of Singapore by undersea cable. The private sector venture may seem quixotic at first glance, but the technology pieces are in place — it’s just a matter of next steps.Solar Energy By (Very) Long Undersea Cable: Not A DreamThe idea of transporting solar energy by undersea cable is a relatively new twist on an old idea. The use of submarine cables for transporting renewable energy is commonplace, partly by virtue of the offshore wind industry.Long undersea cables are also commonplace and they are getting longer, especially in the field of data transmission. The new Meta undersea cable project circumnavigating Africa, for example, is 45,000 kilometers (about 27,961 miles) long
