Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and VMware, including at least 2 years focused on Kubernetes and/or OpenShift Virtualization.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience engineering, administering, and automating VMware and OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of VMware and Kubernetes concepts.
  • Experience with Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python for automation.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace, and logging solutions.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for the OpenShift Virtualization platform, including compute, memory, storage, and network resources, to ensure scalability and prevent resource exhaustion.
  • Analyze resource utilization trends and recommend infrastructure scaling, consolidation, or optimization.
  • Collaborate with application teams and stakeholders to understand future demand and project capacity needs.
  • Develop and maintain capacity models and reports to support strategic planning.
  • Develop automation solutions, including scripts and playbooks, for repetitive OSV tasks such as configuration changes, VM management, snapshot removal, auditing, remediation, and ticketing-system integration.
  • Use automation to deliver operator updates and changes efficiently at scale.
  • Implement Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices to improve platform stability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Deploy and audit role-based access controls.
  • Manage namespaces and resource quotas for CPU, disk, and storage.
  • Implement and maintain end-to-end observability solutions, including monitoring, logging, and tracing, for the OSV environment and integrate tools such as Dynatrace and Prometheus/Grafana.
  • Explore and implement Event Driven Architecture for enhanced real-time monitoring and response.
  • Develop capabilities to flag and report abnormalities and identify observability blind spots.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues across the global compute environment.
  • Proactively monitor VM health, resource usage, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor for unusual activity that could indicate a compromise or misconfiguration.
  • Provide technical consulting and expertise to application teams requiring OSV solutions.
  • Design, implement, and validate custom or dedicated OSV clusters and VM solutions for critical applications with unique or complex requirements, such as specialized appliances.
  • Create, maintain, and update internal documentation and customer-facing content on the Ford documentation site to facilitate self-service and clearly explain platform capabilities.

Ford and JPMorganChase launch Michigan LIFT platform with $1B in contracts and financing

Ford and JPMorganChase have launched Michigan LIFT, a platform connecting manufacturers with innovative suppliers and capital to expand domestic production.
