Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED with experience is required; an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial and/or data center construction and project management is required, including installation of standard cabling technologies, rack infrastructure, and management of large-scale build projects.
  • Experience managing large-scale client projects with Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts is required.
  • Experience with Panduit, CommScope, Corning, and other products is required.
  • Previous successful completion of telecommunications projects is required.
  • Experience managing projects valued at more than $1 million and service contracts is required.
  • Knowledge of general building codes and BICSI standards is required.
  • Knowledge of the structured cabling industry, including technology, quality, and safety standards, is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures is required.
  • Proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis is required to determine feasible solutions.
  • Ability to support the Senior Project Manager or Regional Operations Manager in leading, developing, and managing field employees is required.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from upper management, clients, and other departments is required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, customer service, oral communication, and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to learn and support new and rapidly evolving technologies is required.
  • Ability to research information and identify solutions for technical issues is required.
  • Ability to work within deadlines while maintaining work quality, prioritize, and multitask is required.
  • Ability to perform duties professionally and maintain a professional appearance is required.
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio, is required.
  • Ability to work in an indoor business office and construction environment, stand and walk frequently, sit, use hands and arms, communicate verbally, stoop or kneel occasionally, lift or move up to 40 pounds regularly and 25 pounds frequently, carry and climb ladders to 20 feet, operate scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs when required, and work in tight or confined spaces is required.
Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and company and client worksite safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the request-for-proposal process by reviewing plans, specifications, and bid forms in detail.
  • Review contracts and work orders for content, validity, and changes.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships to secure and expand business opportunities.
  • Provide the initial client interface to assess project scope, schedule, and required resources.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure materials, equipment, and labor are available.
  • Develop the mobilization plan and oversee acquisition of required equipment.
  • Develop the resource plan and evaluate needs alongside other site resource requirements.
  • Manage project scheduling requirements to control costs and meet contract requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships and streamline project activities for efficiency.
  • Communicate with staff and upper management about customer and job requirements.
  • Participate in progress update meetings and provide customer progress reports as contractually required.
  • Work with the Project Engineer to prepare change orders and manage their completion using customer-required tools.
  • Monitor installation activities with onsite personnel to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team to communicate and achieve specifications under client quality-plan requirements.
  • Manage job cost, profitability, and schedules through internal systems and reports.
  • Coordinate with customer teams to meet the master schedule and provide specific work dates for scheduled items.
  • Communicate project updates, scope changes, order changes, and other events affecting projects to internal resources.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are met.
  • Track projects and evaluate cost versus performance to ensure completion on time and within budget.
  • Represent the company in client project meetings.
  • Participate in assigned meetings, conference calls, and company-required meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Project Engineer to facilitate efficient and accurate project close-outs.
  • Assist with accounts receivable when required.
  • Manage customer acceptance and project signoff.
  • Provide coaching, development, and guidance to direct reports and/or team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities and support Lean initiatives across the site in alignment with corporate strategic goals.
  • Travel overnight as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Project Management Professional certification.
  • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.
  • BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
