CDN & Edge Security Engineer
About the job
- Strong understanding of CDN technologies, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, DNS architecture, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP networking, reverse proxy concepts, and load balancing.
- Hands-on experience with Akamai CDN, Cloudflare CDN and Web Application Firewall, WAF policy management, DDoS mitigation, and CDN troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Linux administration, basic shell and Python scripting, REST APIs, monitoring tools, and log analysis.
- Three to six years of experience in CDN operations, network operations, cloud networking, edge security, or web application security.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related technical field.
- Availability to work in a 24x7 operational environment.
- Manage and support Akamai and Cloudflare CDN platforms.
- Configure and maintain CDN properties, cache policies, and routing rules.
- Perform cache purging and invalidation activities.
- Configure and troubleshoot origin connectivity issues.
- Support global traffic acceleration and content optimization.
- Handle L2 production incidents and escalations from L1 teams.
- Troubleshoot HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS, and CDN-related issues.
- Investigate website latency, downtime, and cache performance issues.
- Analyze CDN logs, traffic patterns, and edge behavior.
- Coordinate with application, cloud, network, and security teams to resolve issues.
- Manage WAF rules, rate limiting, bot protection, and geo-blocking policies.
- Investigate DDoS attacks and support mitigation activities.
- Tune security policies to reduce false positives.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts and suspicious traffic activity.
- Support implementation of OWASP Top 10 protection.
- Configure and manage A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, and MX DNS records.
- Manage SSL certificate onboarding, renewal, and troubleshooting.
- Validate TLS configurations and certificate chains.
- Support DNS failover and load-balancing configurations.
- Monitor CDN health, edge performance, and traffic analytics.
- Optimize cache hit ratios and origin offload.
- Analyze latency, bandwidth usage, and web performance metrics.
- Work with Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, and Kibana.
- Implement CDN and security configuration changes during maintenance windows.
- Validate post-change functionality and roll back changes when required.
- Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and root-cause analysis reports.
- Support automation using APIs, command-line tools, and scripting.
- Work with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
- Assist with operational improvements and process automation.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps concepts.
- Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, Zero Trust Security, API Security, bot management, and SIEM tools.
- Akamai certifications or Cloudflare certifications.
- CCNA, Network+, or Security+ certification.
- Cloud certifications from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
